I ran in to someone that I know that runs some fairly tight Linux boxes. Offhand he mentioned antivirus software that runs on Linux? Any comments? Also anyone have any good Linux Admin sites?

Thanks

All the AntiViruses for Linux scan for Windows viruses, only really usefull if you run a file or mail server for a bunch of windows clients you don't install any antivirus on.

honestly i don't think anyone will going to waste time on writing a virus targeting linux. less than 1% use linux, it won't deal enough damage to the community as a whole.

and i believe computer professional don't use antivirus software anyway, since they believe they out smart the virus. so i assume anyone running linux as their primary os know enough about networking and security

I'd like to see where you got those statistics, I find them very amusing.

Anyway people have written a few worms for Linux attacking a few exploits in bind, lpd and a some other things but they had little to no effect because the admins of the Linux boxes know how to patch their boxes correctly.

If you're a computer professional running Windows and you don't run an antivirus you're an idiot.

ramen, l10n, and countless trojans are meant for linux. Despite what Microsoft tells you, BIND is still THE standard in DNS. And it is insecure crap. :p
