anti-spam software for home pc?

I'm a CPA, so please keep your replies on simple level so a guy who only understands debits and credits can understand it.

I've gotten really irritated about all the spam I'm getting. Is there any software, preferably free, that could be installed to get rid of this stuff? I use Outlook Express on my home PC.

No. But you can look through the titles of your spam and create a filter file in OutLook Express that will delete all messages that contain certain words (you can also say...filter certain words UNLESS they are from certain email addresses, like your friends/family/acquantainces). There are lots of types of spam but you can filter words based on the type of spam you get:

free
vacation
mortgage
xxx


etc...

It has many filters and a filter update feature.
