Anti-smoking commercials are getting ridiculous

Just saw X-2 over the weekend and they had the one where this man and woman were sharing an apartment, there was trash all over the place, coffeegrounds being reused and left in a dirty pan where they cook some eggs, then the woman scratches her butt. They then go to a restaurant and someone at their table lites up a cigarette. They tell him that that is so disgusting...

First there was the one where the dogwalker calls them up telling them that he wants to sell them dog pee so they can add it to cigarettes since they both contain high concentrations of urea and now this.

Smoking is disgusting when you don't do it all the time, but I don't know about THAT. I quit for like 3 weeks and after the 2nd week the smell became revolting. Unfortunately, after the third beer my willpower goes right out the friggin window, so I'm back up to a half a pack a day now.

I think anything that will make a person even consider smoking is worth it though, just as long as it doesn't involve raising the prices of cigarettes any more than they are already.

As a non-smoker, I don't care if these attempts at convincing the smokers are "ridiculous". I actually don't care. But I can see how smokers would think they are...

If you're a non smoker, what would you do to convince smokers to quit ? We all know smoking is bad for anyone's health... what would you do (in an ad) to have them quit ? What do these non-profit advertisers have to gain for themselves ?

the message they're trying to get across is good but i think almost everyone knows that smoking is bad by now. and if they don't, they're dumb. 😛
