has anyone in chicago seen one of these ads yet? personally i think its tasteless. what if they made an ad with leaveChristianitysafely.com or leaveJudaismsafely.com on it? would that cause an outrage?

more on the 'Queen of Muslim Bashers' here:

In 2008, she co-wrote an editorial for Arutz Sheva in which she asserted her pride in being Jewish....

Since when were human rights tasteless?

Whether it is the Catholic Church covering up child abuse or the Muslim forcing their women to go against their wishes, in a secular country these type of human right abuses must be confronted and dealt with and believe it or not a lot of woman don't know what to do.

This statement from the Huffington Post Moderator says it best why the signs should stay up.

Domestic violence manifests differently for different communities, and if you approach DV with "one solution fits all", you'll miss a significant number of women--mostly women who are poor, of color, who are immigrants and/or who don't speak English. Women who are illegal immigrants or who have family members who are illegal immigrants are afraid, with good reason, to call authorities; in some African American communities, given the animosity between police and African American men, there is a strong taboo against calling the police in on DV cases; some women, mail order brides, for example, have no idea of their legal rights or how to access the legal system; other women are told that they have a moral obligation to marry men their father's choose and that to leave or refuse that marriage is a shame rectified only by ending the woman's life. The ad service is not a disservie to all women who need help; it is a service to (some) Muslim women who may have no where to turn because no one in their families dare help them, because they don't have material resources (e.g., money, transportation, etc.) of their own to access in order to exit and because they don't have a clear idea of how to live independently.
Instead of using the usual Christian or Jewish response how about looking at it from the point of view of women's rights irrespective of religion.

And why is this not being brought to the forefront by civil rights groups instead of Arutz Sheva?,

These same groups would be quick to defend the right of people to marry whom they want regardless of their race or sexual orientation and would tell those people to leave their church or synagogue if they refused to perform the said marriage.

It's not tasteless. It's a good thing. As for the "safely" Islam is more violent than other religions right now (sorry buddy).

And I'm all for you trying to get people to leave Christianity and Judiasm. Actually, better to let someone who's not an Islam apologist do it. It will be more effective.

If it was an atheist group advertising leaveChristianitysafely.com to save children molested by catholic priests you and others (including me) would not object to their advertising.

This anti-islamic family violence ad is ok but I don't agree with other anti-islamic things Geller is doing.

I like the way your huffpo article refers to her as "Pamela Geller, who has been dubbed the "Queen of Muslim Bashers" and..." but when you go to the link it's a link to another huffpo article where one person says "I would say that she is the queen of the Muslim bashers," said Hooper."

How is this different than when the Media questioned whether a Mormon can be president? Hate is always hate. The media is full of biggots, that hate all people who are not crazy liberals just like them.

What is wrong with wanting to provide shelter to women in danger of physical harm? We have plenty of shelters for battered and/or preagnant women who need a place to stay. How are these totalitarian Muslims any different from those who practice polygamy and mistreat young girls and force them to get married? Muslims also practice polygamy.

Meh...yet another Muslim-hating Jewess...

While the ads seem like they're supporting a good cause, the sponsor of those ads leaves room for doubt of the actual reason for them.

I see absolutely no problem with the ads, and I wouldn't see a problem with the ads if they referenced some other religion either. Everyone should be aware of their rights and what options they have available to them if their rights are violated.

First off I would say most abuses are cultural, as in honor killings.

Second, in North America I think its pretty safe to say Christianity is by far more violent and hateful then any other religion right now (sorry buddy).

You know, you might actually want to read up a little before making comments.

Have you read about what happens in Africa? Christians in Africa are doing some of the very things you mentioned. Just because Christians in the US don't do it, that doesn't mean other countries might do similar things.

I think I've seen one of those signs in Texas. I think they're a good thing. Hopefully that organization can liberate some women and save some lives.

so you support honor killings? would you kill your daughter for bringing "dishonor" to you? if not i dont understand why you posted this.

I didn't realize who this person was. In that case, it's clear her goal isn't just helping women, but fomenting religious strife.

what if they made an ad with leaveChristianitysafely.com

This sounds like a good idea.

or leaveJudaismsafely.com on it?
This would probably be a waste of money because, in general, Jews don't try to ram their religion down other people's throats. As far as I know, it isn't the Jews who want to make abortion illegal, or make birth control illegal, or end stem cell research, or teach creationism in the schools, or prevent gays from getting married. I'm sure there are a couple Jewish wackos out there, but the proportion of Jews who feel that way is nothing like the proportion of Christians.

And certainly nothing like the proportion of Muslims.

In general maybe..but the Jewish woman putting the signs on the cabs seems to be.
And a lot of the political parties in Israel do, most notably the third most popular.

Hmm, I heard Muslims don't even eat Pork!
So, if a muslim wants to eat pork, they need to be able to change religions, and safety is always paramount.

So, I support safe religion changing, not only will the endividual be free, but it will benefit the pork industry too!
