Anti-Install Software

Is there a program that will keep people from installing stuff on a computer unless they have a password or something. My kids keep downloading and installing junk on my pc.

If you are running win2000 or Xp you can set a person's rights to user and they will not be able to install programs.

Minor problem..all running 98SE means these pcs are at my school and we are tight on budget...should've said students not kids

Problem is that 98 / ME don't have security features / access rights the way 2000 / XP do, so no you can't.

Since you can't afford to upgrade Windows(?) you might have to get by with creating a Ghost / Drive Image backup of a clean install, then restore that as needed. Of course to do this legally you'll need to buy either 1 copy of Ghost / DI per machine, or an Enterprise version that allows multiple machine use.
