In case you're not familiar with California politics, Leland Yee is known for:

-Trying to ban violent video games
-Trying to ban salt weapons
-Trying to unban shark fin soup (because it was an "attack on Chinese culture")

Senator Yee, when interviewed about his salt weapon ban:
It is extremely important that individuals in the state of California do not own assault weapons - that's just so crystal clear... there's just no debate, no discussion.

Senator Yee, when discussing illegal arms deals:
KEITH JACKSON asked UCE 4599 "You know what you want, right?" UCE 4599 told SENATOR LEE and KEITH JACKSON he wanted any type of "shoulder-fired" weapons or missiles. SENATOR YEE asked UCE 4599 if he wanted "automatic weapons" as opposed to semi-automatic weapons. UCE 4599 confirmed with SENATOR YEE he wanted automatic weapons. KEITH JACKSON asked UCE 4599 about the quantity. UCE 4599 told SENATOR YEE and KEITH JACKSON anywhere between $500,000 -$2,500,000 worth of weapons."

He was responsible for over $2 million dollars worth of weapons entering the United States:

The affidavit charges that the $2 million worth of weapons to have been secreted into the country from the Philippines included rocket launchers and machine guns, some of which Yee himself had fired while on Mindanao. A portion of the weapons Yee conspired to bring into the U.S. through New Jersey were to have been forwarded on to North Africa via Sicily.

He's also the third CA state senator to be arrested on corruption charges recently.

I hope he has fun in prison.

That is a bizarre turn of events on the surface, but makes sense looking deeper. Legal sales drives the price way down. Probably won't find a lot of dope smugglers advocating an end to the War on Drugs.

To me hypocrisy is one of the greatest crimes and should have one of the greatest punishments. It demonstrates you know what is right and wrong and that you request one thing of others, but do the other yourself. If Yee is guilty he should get a very long time away.

See, and people are saying how progressives are anti-gun.

This man is SO pro-gun, he is breaking the law over it.

This is what a few of my friends have said about marijuana legalization consistently not happening. Because it would threaten the profits of the current growers too much so they work behind the scenes to keep it illegal.

Another CA Democrat goes down in flames. Too bad they couldn't implicate the biggest tool, Steinberg. California is the worst run state in the union and unsurprisingly has one party rule.

no conspiracy to fund terror group or something charge?

Yee discussed helping the undercover FBI agent get weapons worth $500,000 to $2.5 million, including shoulder-fired automatic weapons and missiles, and showed the agent the entire process of how to get those weapons from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines into the United States, according to an affidavit from FBI Special Agent Emmanuel V. Pascua.

Pascua also said in the affidavit that Yee was unhappy with his life and desired to flee to the Philippines. The promised introduction with the weapon trafficker did take place at a San Francisco restaurant earlier this month, according to the documents.
