"Nintendo spokeswoman Beth Llewelyn best summarized the IDSA's stance when she commented that "emulators are illegal, and they continue to support counterfeiting and piracy . . . this infringes on our intellectual property rights, and that's something we actively protect." In other words, emulators should be banned because they contribute to piracy by encouraging the illegal distribution of pirated software, over the Internet, for the platform being emulated. "

I don't get it....Everyone who played snes, nes, and sega are all firing up the emulators to play the great early games. A lot of them get tired of the keyboard and want to dig out their old systems and games only to find that they have vanished over the years. A lot of them go to ebay, etc. to find all of the old stuff and often pay good prices for the rehashed games.

It seems that the companies wouldn't be all that worried/insulted by the emulation since it actually promotes the resale of their games. I understand the N64 issue to a degree, but not entirely.

I found out the other day I had lost all of my games to moving and what not and I am on a search to find some used ones over the internet. I love those games! :)

*edit --> oops, forgot the message....*

People buying used equipment on eBay does not give any cash to the manufacturers - however, I'm definitely a supporter of emulators!
