I think they're just as confused, too... do they think anyone that reads Dante's Inferno is going to hell, too?

I'm not sure which is worse...the protesters or the badly titled and written blog along with the oddly included photo of a Raving Rabbids prop which has nothing to do with the protesters or Dante's Inferno....

Electronic Arts = Anti-Christ. Must be people who bought the retail boxed version of Spore. :p

Seriously though, do these people not have jobs to go to? As if there aren't more important issues facing America right now other than a video game based on the Divine Comedy. I always thought the book was about the consequences of sin. According to Wikipedia, the game is about salvation. Protesting against something you know nothing about = Epic Anti-Christ Fail.

Probably, yes. I grew up next to a family that was uber religous. Their kids weren't allowed to watch anything that wasn't released by the church. No movies, music, books etc.. I remember trying to talk to them about the new whatever movie or toy etc, and they would tell me I was going to hell... Their hearts were good, I mean they legitimately thought they were helping, but it was creepy.. Like I'm going to cut your head off to save you from yourself creepy..

These dingleberry groups nowdays protest everything. Its all about the attention, negative or otherwise. When I was younger + used to frequently go to concerts I would see these guys all the time. I'm not talking just the Slayer/Lamb of God, show.. They would protest Incubus (probibly because of the name), Korn, Floater, Pepper, etc..

Yeah, I guess I had one of those types on my school bus in high school. I was reading the Piers Anthony "Incarnations of Immortality" series, and she saw it and told me the book was evil, because of reincarnation.
Man, I wanted to corrupt her sister so bad...

I too grew up next to a religious family. They moved away when I was about 12 and I never saw them again. A few months ago the one I was friends added me on Facebook and we started catching up on some things. His sister turned out to be gay! Oh god, the irony. I love it.

Did you even click the link? Look at them. Do any of them look employable? Of course not.

I thought the signs were a bit gaming clever.

I mean the cheat codes one with the controller inputs is kind of not something I would expect.

Dunno if you live in the US or not, but such groups are a national source of amusement here. Especially with regards to video games.

At work we come up with acronyms for projects before we name the project. A recent project was named HADES. Not sure what it stands for though.

Of honorable mention i a project that was named NACHOS several years ago.

Your tax dollars at work :)

Either that or really smart. In thee3nd's review of Manhunt he mentioned that he was psyched about the game because of retarded parents and activist groups convincing him it's this super violent game, and he was disappointed that it wasn't true.

Back in the early 90s, I would look at those thermometer ratings to pick games to buy. Duke Nukem 3D had violence, swearing, and sex. I had to buy it. I don't think boxes have those ratings on them anymore so we need to rely on guys like Jack Thompson and religious protesters to tell us what to buy.

I was going to post something bashing fundies for doing this...but then I read further. ROFL @ EA...probably the funniest PR for a game I have ever seen.

heh - A Christian blogger's response to EA's promotional stunt.

Gamers of all varieties will buy this product if it's, well, actually a good game. So instead of engaging in a shamelessly anti-Christian stunt to promote your poor excuse of a product, maybe you ought to work on making this game, you know, something better than a blatant God of War rip-off and make it, ya know, something worthwhile?

Really bad move by EA. Mocking people is a good way to lose potential customers.

I think it was hilarious. And I don't think enough people care enough to be deterred from playing the game to significantly impact sales. Remember, no such thing as bad publicity

That one gave me a good laugh. Whoever made the sign obviously plays video games because they know how to enter cheat codes. :)

 Now that is a well thought out marketing way. EA surprised again :) In a positive way! They got me fooled for sure.

Sad part is I can see real people doing a stunt like that. Extremist religious behavious should be laughed at and ridiculed - there's nothing good that ever came out things like that.

I'd like to thank the forum members with no taste or class for defending EA... now we know who you are.

Please, this is one of the least embarrassing viral campaigns ever. Remember "All I Want for Christmas is..."? That's the kind of stupidity can never be unseen. This one is nothing compared to that.
