Why have mods been locking automobile-related threads in OT lately?

Cases in point:

My "Edmunds.com Tundra vs. Titan vs. Silverado" thread. (Link)
The "Porsche $28,000 Profit per Car" thread.
And now this morning the "Ford record loss" thread. (Link)

All within the past several days.

I don't get it!

Here's a quickie for you. How come you are elite, aside from being a mod? The only place I notice you post is here, and all you do is insult people. So clearly you aren't winning any friends. Of course I notice some of the other mods have the exact same attitude as yours, so maybe you won a couple and even ass-kissed your way up there.
