To quote the great Desmond Tutu. Many fail to learn from this lesson

"'If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.' - Desmond Tutu"

Unfortunately, this country has failed to learn the lessons taught by the archbishop. He died with a legacy of fighting apartheid while this country is in the throes of establishing it here. Just a reminder if conservatives attempt to sing his praises, they were on the wrong side of history again while many were attempting to fight the apartheid regime Republicans were on the side of the South African government. Don't let them whitewash history again

He did a lot for both his country and the world.. He offered a reminder that "I'm not political" is an endorsement of the status quo, however bad it is, and that you're likely benefitting from that status quo at the expense of others.

I do wish South Africa had lived up to what Tutu saw for it. The country was great for a while after 1994, but the ANC has been mired in corruption and division (Zuma and cronies in particular) and isn't what it could be. It could take decades for the country to live up to its potential.
