A B.C. feminist told a cheering audience here that the United States government is more threatening to the world than international terrorism.
In some ways thats true (if only because they are powerful). In some ways its mindless. I can't really read the rest but I suppose I'll force myself to. Anyway I prefer the US to terrorists.

US Government aren't doing it for freedom and democracy. They are doing it in the name of capitalism which is US Imperialism.

She has the right to speak her mind in a public forum no less than George W. Bush has the right to speak his mind to millions of Americans on live television.
If you enjoy living in a country with freedoms, like the US, I'd get used to people not seeing everything your way.
Nobody has said her mouth should be duct taped. It doesn't mean she is right though or that we can't have a good laugh at her. Like I said she is right in terms of some things. Unfortunately calling the US worse than terrorists is a sure-fire way to get no good results, and its particularly a bad argument to make now.

You paid 100K? What, in Monopoly money or something? If you're referring to taxpayer money, you'd be surprised to learn about the other uses of your money by the government of your nation.
Personally, some woman talking in front of 500 people is something fairly insignificant. If she weren't publicized so much by US media, most people wouldn't have had a chance to hear about her or her speech. In effect, she's used the recent tragedies to bolster her media coverage, and we're just helping her along.

I choose to look at things this way,
I live in a society that allows for any man or woman to stand on their soapbox and spew whatever thoughts or ideas that THEY FEEL is important to them. Whether I listen to it or not is up to me and NO ONE FORCES me to listen.
HOW MANY OTHER COUNTRIES ALLOW FOR THAT FREEDOM?
I live in a society that gives me the tools to make an honest living. I live in a society that allows me to instill those ideals and morals and beliefs that I BELIEVE IN to my children and hopefully my childrens children.
IT is a democratic system and democracy and capitalism go hand in hand....it is what gives me the job I work at, the food I provide for my children and the nifty computer I am pecking away at right now.
If my government wishes to maintain its capitalistic integrity then I am all for it. If that means a foreign policy which others may deem 'imperialistic' ....hey whatever works.
I am not naive, my country has done just as many bad things to others in the past. But until I see waves of American soldiers marching across another land slaughtering innocents for the means of offensive acquisition, or religious tyrany (sp?) I will continue to support my government.
