And if he allowed pictures to be plastered all over the media you'd be saying he's not protecting the rights of the familes or respecting the dead. Either way, you would somehow use it against him.

Not allowing pictures seems respectful to the families if you asked me. Everyone knows people are dying there, its no secret.

On the news tonight they showed the flag draped casket of a Firefighter that gave his all in the fires above San Diego.
Solem procession, Honor Guard, Pall Bearers, Quite a dignified ceremony.

Then I wondered why this Administration won't suffer the equally dignified procedure for the world to bear witness to
for those who gave all for the Nation, in our Foriegn War upon thier return to thier native land.

Must not be a thing for him to be proud of, if he can so easily turn his back on them.

If I died in combat, I'd damn sure want everyone to know that I made the ultimate sacrifice for my country. The administration/pentagon hiding the injured and killed in action in Iraq does those men a disservice IMO.

Hmm, I could very well be wrong but I think I read where this has been on the books for a while but has just recently(Bush) been enforced. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong.

With the press the way it is today anyway it's not like this is going to change anything. The only reason they are making it a big deal now is because they can't do it. If the ban was not in effect then they would be there for the first few but after a while they would see that it is not "newsworthy" in thier eyes and move on to something else. For the mainstream press to jump up and down and cry foul because they can't get pics of our dead military is reall pathetic, because honestly they don't really care about the dead unless it brings in ratings.

Besides the rest of you who are crying about this are just as bad. The fact is that you really don't care if you see this or not, you would probably just keep flipping your channels to get to the shows you really want to see. but hey wtf it's just another way for you to bash the pres right???

He didn't -- directly. However, our esteemed Commander in Chief has taught me well. I made a unilateral preemptive move because I knew where he was going if left unchallenged. These are facts, not assertions. It also served as a warning to other YABAs that we will not tolerate terrorism ... err, supression of freedom of speech.

I'm sure you agree this is a proper and reasonable response to an imminent threat. I made this forum a safer place. Mission accomplished!

Why don't we just preserve their dead bodies, and put them on display in DC so we can permanently destroy our morale.

If you thought this through rationally, you would side with Bush on this issue, regardless of his Alcohol history, which has about as much to do with Iraq, as Monica Lewinsky had to do with Kosovo. That is nothing at all. Hypocrits. You just hate Bush... blindly brainwashed fools that you are. Why not try actually thinking about the issues one at a time, from a critical perspective.
