Anti-abortion activist shot in front of Owosso High School

OWOSSO, Michigan -- State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School.

The victim's identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell.

State police also confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody about 8:15 a.m. at the suspect's home.

Owosso High School secretary Wendy Smith said the students remain in lockdown this morning and confirmed that no students were involved and all are safe with classes going on as normal. The shooting did not occur on school property, Smith said.

Meanwhile, police have completely ringed with police tape a section of North Street in front of the school.

A black car can be seen parked at the corner of North and Whitehaven streets, where a portable oxygen tank is lying in a front yard next to a large sign bearing the image of a baby and the word "Life."

Lots of unknowns here. Was the victim picketing at the time? Where'd the sign come from?

You guys think this was politically motivated? They said the guy was a well known anti-abortion activist.

Possible, but if so it's obviously a politically motivated nutjob.

RIP activist.

Here in sacramento, there is a fellow that drives around an old pickup truck with HUGE homemade signs from front to end. He usually parks it in all the heavy traffic areas (L street, 16th and J,)

For the longest time his truck was full of pictures of aborted babies, and quotes from the bible. He was a pro-life activist. He would park his truck full of all of these grotesque pictures where the school children could see. He has sinced moved on to anti-gay marriage....which I think is funny because now he has pictures of men kissing men with big ol red crosses painted over them.

But I never liked seeing his truck....

I would never shoot him over it though.

crazy.

That's every bit as bad. Pro-choice is used for a very good reason, it is the choice to have an abortion that is being defended, not the abortion itself.

As for the activist, seems hard to say much of anything right now, it most certainly could be politically motivated... but activists get mugged too sometimes. Either way, anyone's death is sad.

The way I see it, we get called out for calling ourselves pro-life, on the grounds that we don't support all life. It seems fair to me to call you out for calling yourselves pro-choice, for not supporting all choices.

If we want the names to be completely honest, we can only go with pro and anti abortion, because that's what this boils down to.

Eh, it's not lying if I didn't know about it. I'll revise. I, and other mature conservatives, don't call you guys pro-death.

It's a shame the senior editor at National Review (and contributing writer to Time and the Washington Post) is 'immature', but thankfully conservatives beneath him would never engage in that sort of demagoguery.

Mature people can make immature statements. Lapses in judgement occur.

The reason the 'pro-life' movement has been losing ground is because it's basically having an argument with itself. The abortion debate is between pro-choice vs. anti-choice. That's it, nothing more, not pro-life vs. pro-choice. Many, many pro-choice advocates are also pro-life, myself included. I am very pro-life, but I am very pro-choice as well. The anti-choicers should concentrate their efforts on reducing abortions rather than alienating their fellow pro-lifers.

I think it has to do with the difference between execution of the innocent and the guilty.

It's pretty basic; babies are innocent while murderers are not.

But you're admitting that life isn't sacred by creating extenuating circumstances when it's permissible to end another person's life.

No, we just justify it like the left does with the babies. Their not humans, and either are murderers.. See how easy that is? You just say its so and it makes everything OK.

That's bullshiot, I'm Pro Choice and I hope the choice is that they have the child but if they choose not too then they can have an abortion.
