Just saying that can get you banned you know, depending on the mood of the mod.

1. This isn't ATOT
2. I've been posting here far longer than you and understand the rules so save it 😉
3. When the AMD vs Intel nonsense starts up, it's an extremely appropriate response and indicates that I for one, support locking the thread as it's rhetorical and incendiary.

i remember getting lock for the first thread I posted on AT
when I asked about the how much my collection was worth in the market...

how embarresing, 🙁

People... the computing is about Intel Vs AMD, everyone know that and in every interesting post there will be discuss it, I'm in the AMD position, you have to choose one, and, I repeat to you Choose an Athlon, I have learned about some critics to my last post, thanks, but I still thinking paying an Intel may not worth it. AND if you want the fastest machine ever... call Cry computers, and they will do the job for you! Bye

Let me tell you, my friend, that the Athlon XP is better than the P4 for databases. However, amigo, the newest P4 with hyperthreading and 800mhz FSB beats the Athlon in just about everything else. You also might want to remember, old chum, that good grammar goes a long way on message boards such as these. "Paying an Intel" is worth it for many people, especially those that do heavy video encoding.

I already chose AMD, and own it myself (sig please). And I am doing a lot of video encoding. I need an advice from you. Could you suggest me any Athlon CPU that might do encoding faster than P4 2.6C@3.4GHz, which I plan to buy next month? All the CPUs have its plus and minus point. There is no absolute best right now, isnt it?

I will answer you my friend, an AMD Athlon XP it's much better for gaming, the P4 is only reasonable for data bases, although it more expensive.
Oh really?
Who fed you that crap!

Was that a question or were you talking to yourself?

it is not a debate, the Athlon XP is better in most games... But in general the athlon xp is better in about 70% of all games out there...
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, but when I look at Anand's review of the P4-3.2ghz (see Jeff7181's link above), I see the P4 win every gaming benchmark... Quite handily, actually.

does the games anand have represent 70% of all games, there are plenty of reviewers who use different games, and most reviewers have the ahtlon xp on top of the gaming bandwagon, jsut because anand doesnt have too many games that favor the athlon doenst mean all games dont.

I think you need to have a look at some more benchmarks of the P4 3.2ghz w/ hyperthreading and 800mhz FSB. The straw the broke the camel's back for me came when I saw the P4 beat out the Athlon XP3200+ in Serious Sam 2. This game was previously dominated by AMD. It finally brought me to the realization that the P4 is superior to the Athlon XP...in terms of perfomance, as of right now. There are a few things that the Athlon continues to do better, but it seems as though the P4 is slowly but surely taking over. The only thing that AMD can do to stop this insanity is to start mashing out those Athlon 64 chips and release a platform which can enable dual-channel memory on the mainstream Athlon 64 chips.

Intel vs AMD....this will go on for ever.

Right now, Intel P4 "C" is better. If you have the money, then go for the P4 "C" CPUs w/ 800FSB. If not, then the Athlon XP is the best bang for the buck.

I always go for the best bang for the buck which is Athlon XP right now.

P4 2.40C 800FSB CPU cost ~$160
AMD Barton 2500+ cost ~$90
AMD Barton 2400+ cost ~$80

so if you have the extra ~$80, then go w/ Intel else go w/ AMD...that simple.

Ummm, sorry... No.

Oh btw, an XP 2000+ would not take a P4-3.2ghz in business apps, either.

I (like most people) can appreciate all of what the XP does do well, but let's not get carried away. 🙂
