Howdy,

I am somewhat new to these forums, and have been amazed at the wonderful responses. Gonna give it another go.

I'm putting together a 2k+ home rig for gaming and everything else, and need to decide on a case. As an art teacher I'm looking for aesthetics and functionality. I believe I've found both in the:

Antec P180

and the

Lian-Li PC-767

http://www.ocia.net/reviews/lianli767/page1.shtml

I do not plan on fiddling around much inside, just upgrading when needed.

The question is, which one?

You'd be surprised really.

The Antec P180 case has an interesting internal design. They worked with the editor of SilentPcReview on it. By far it is the most advanced case they have made.

The Lian-Li has more of a standard internal design.

It's a tough choice for me, that's why I ventured here to see what others think.

If you value silence above all else the P-180.

If quality and presentation rate higher in your mind, Lian Li.

Well, I'm still at it.

I *really* want to purchase the PC-767

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112083

..but it seems that the reviews I read are either really good or really bad. I am looking for a great case that will last a good while, has adequate cooling/noise dampening attributes, and looks good.

Is the PC-767 not worth getting? Price isn't a concern. Do I choose the P180 cause she's beautiful on the inside, or the PC-767 cause she's gorgeous on the outside? Perhaps the PC-767 has some inner beauty as well?

Help me Obi-Wan

I personally chose the P180 due to the silence and price. If price is not a issue then look for reviews that document the silence of this case. If presentation is the main concern and you like the look of the Lian-li better I don't see it as being a contest, get the Lian-Li.

The only problem I see with the P-180 is its plastic door. I was looking at one at CompUSA the other day and I now see what people were saying about it. The demo at the store also had a slightly bowed door. If they had used metal instead of plastic they wouldnt have the problem IMO. Someone did mention that if you keep the door locked it wont bow. From what I could see thats probably the right solution. Locking the door kept it from being bowed out slightly. It looked fine when locked. Its more of a niggling problem than a huge problem but niggling little things can often irritate people more than anything else.

Hi Wish:
I currently use a Lian-Li PC-6089 case.
It is very light and nice looking.
It is also very badly designed for air-flow and noisy.

I am about to build 2 new systems.
Both include: Asus A8N32-SLi (heatpipe); Athlon64 X2 4800+ PIB;
2GBCorsair XMS-3500 Pro kit; 2x500GB Seagate 7200.9 SATA2.5 HDDs
eVGA e-GeForce 7800GTX 512MB PCIe video card.
Enermax Liberty modular 620W (120mm smart fan) PSU.
Thats about it for the heat/noisemakers.
I will use the Antec P180 w/xtra Antec 120mm TriCool fan for both.
I'll remove the VGA duct & duct tape over the holed opening.
My priorities are #1) Quietness #2) Efficient cooling/air-flow #3) Efficient dust filtering
and #4) Looks.
The Lian-Li (and some other of their recent models) you mention was off my list as I
want a heatpiped motherboard in lieu of a noisy chipset fan.
A flipped motherboard messes with the efficiency of a heatpipe setup.
I took a long look at the Thermaltake Armor and CoolerMaster Stacker but the
Antec P180 suits my priorites much better.

Happy trailz,
