Welcome to 2007, the era before quiet PSUs.

Still, this is a warm deal. Originally these sold for something ilke $250-300. IIRC it is made by Enhance.

actually this powersupply is pretty quiet. currently running it in my system. its a single fan design, don't count on it to push much case air though.

I would hope it's quiet on your system as you're probably not even pulling a quarter of what it can output during normal use.

Yeah, as quiet as PCP&C Silencers.

Seriously though, I had a TPQ 850W powering a dual core CPU with a single 8800 GT and I found it to be really noisy. Of course the rest of my system was an Antec Solo with suspended HDDs, passive Scythe Ninja on the CPU and passive AC Accelero S1 on the 8800 GT.

Replacing it with an Earthwatts EA500 made the system a lot more quiet, so it had nothing to do with power draw, nor with the 80mm fan.

I'm not the only one who felt the Quattro was far from quiet.

The Antec Quattro advertises having a quiet operation; however the 80mm fan is far from quiet. I decided to replace the fan with a Noctua NF-R8.
...
The PSU was easily the loudest thing in my system; this has really helped reduce the noise level.

As for the fan noise; I can only give you a subjective opinion of fan noise since the load tester easily drowns out most power supplies. I will say that I immediately knew when the TruePower Quattro was on because I could hear the fan

If you venture on to SPCR forums, you'll find a lot of talk about the Antec Quattro being noisy.

The system is louder now with the Antec Quattro. Still pretty quiet, but i can hear the PSU fan from 15ft away.

I have a Quattro 850W PSU...
The one problem is that the fan on the PSU is fairly noisy. It's not terrible, but it's the loudest thing on my computer right now.

850w Antec Truepower Quattro PSU (Noisy

Anyways, let's not sweat it though. "Silence" is absolute, but "quiet" is really subjective. The Antec Quattro is not "quiet" for me but is "quiet" for you, and we can both be right.

I got 4 quattros when the local Comp USA had em clearance for 60 bucks and ended up selling all of them they were a tad noisy. The Corsair 750s I got for 50ish I kept because they were about as quiet as the fans I have in my cases.

hmm, I wonder if there is some variance with fan quality. I find myself checking the ah heck a lot since its been super quiet for me, maybe Antec stealth revised it since its been around for awhile.

I guess if your building a silent PC, sure this thing is gonna be noticable when you compare it to an absolute.

I would hope it's quiet on your system as you're probably not even pulling a quarter of what it can output during normal use.

That will change soon when my GTX 480s come in.
