Antec TruePower New TP-750 Blue 750W...$109.95 w/free shipping

Newegg has the Antec TruePower New Blue 750W power supply for $109.95 w/free shipping, using the code EMCMNPM55.

Excellent performing unit, esp. for the price. About 90-95% of the performance of a Corsair HX750 for a lower price.

The non-LED version of that TP was $120, and there was a code for $40 off bringing it to $80, I got it and it came defective so I returned it and got a Silent Pro 700W. . The LED version you listed was $100 a few months back without any codes.

But the Corsair HX750 is so shiny...and yowsa 7-year warranty.

Even more significant, NewEgg currently has the Seasonic M12D 850W for $139...ExcaliberPC also had the Seasonic X750 for $159 briefly (up to $165 now).

Antec used to be one of the best. Now days, they are just a little better than the cheapest brands. I just had an EarthWatt 650W died within 3 days.

My EA650 has been going good for like a year or something and I have a moderately strenuous system I think.

I think its luck of the draw these days. Every manufacturer will have defects, etc.

I got the TP-750 blue a few weeks ago on a deal; thought it was defective, but i think it was something with one of my gpus. odd problem, not exactly sure.

I just wish the Corsair or seasonic were a little cheaper. Jonnyguru says this is the best 750w modular psu for the price. All other modular 750w psu's cost around $140. In time this psu will drop more in price again.

Quite the opposite actually. Antec had huge quality issues with the leaking Fuhjyyu capacitors in their CWT (Channel Well) built SmartPower 2.0 and TruePower 2.0 units. Out of spite, Antac has not gone back to CWT to build them PSUs and instead they rely at least four different OEMs for their PSUs.

Seasonic: TruePower New/Trio, Neo HE/Power/Eco, Earthwatts
Delta: CP series, Earthwatts 650W/750W (very good unit), Earthwatts "D" / Green units (cost cutting measure, these aren't the "better" Deltas)
Enhance: TruePower Quattro
FSP: Basiq, OEM models

It's funny because CWT's PSH/PSG platforms are just fine...very good in fact. Whether you get a good Antec or a bad one depends on the model. Basically the only "bad" Antecs are the low-end Delta Earthwatts and FSP units, and even those aren't bad...they'll run just fine at their rated wattages (what more could you ask for?)

Based on very solid and knowledgeable reviews from hardwaresecrets.com and jonnyguru.com, the Antec Truepower New 750W performs every bit as well at the Seasonic M12D and Corsair HX750 with peak continuous loads of over 900W, very low ripple and super high efficiencies in the 86-87% range. At $109, this is a excellent power supply.

What was wrong?

What was wrong?

I hooked up the system: Gigabyte UD3R, I7 920@ 4ghz and 2x evga GTX 275's @ 1620 shaders. This system with the TP-750 running WCG 8 threads plus 275's folding.

I would get random restarts and I believ sometimes the system would freeze if I remember correctly. I know for sure I was getting random restarts.

Cards work fine in my other systems for the most part, but sporratic issues. I think 1 of my cards is defective, just have to fully isolate the issue. I hooked up 2 other 275's and ran fine.

I currently have the TP-750 running in another system, same specs, but ud4p mobo; been running like a champ.

EDIT: @Jhatfie; I hear the 750HX and Seasonic are still quite a bit better supplies, but justifying the price difference it a little different. If the corsair or seasonic were really close in price, they would definately be the better buy.

It probably isn't the PSU like you said. The TP-750 is actually made by Seasonic.

yes its made by seasonic, but I believe they used some cheaper parts in this one, it was not identical to a true seasonic

get the latest intel chipset drivers.

They've fixed alot of random problems that I've run into with my various X58 and P55 boards running Vista64 and Win7 64bit.

i bought one back in august for $99 shipped and have not had any problems at all with it. very quiet and lots of juice. i had it originally running a Q6600 at 3.2 ghz at default voltage with no trouble at all. the 12 volt rail on these is very strong. i have it now running the system in my signature with no trouble at all. worth every penny IMHO 😀

How about noise levels for each of these?
Mine is quiet, but inside a case if it gets too warm, the fan will ramp up quite a bit. A good case should eliminate this

Thanks, I will see if they make a difference

Yes it should have no problems running your system.

Mine is currently running a 920@4ghz, 2x gtx 275's@1620 shaders, 1 640gig hdd, floppy, optical drive, 5-6 fans, some built in led's. I run WCG and gpugrid or F@H on this system. 100% load 24/7/365 with no issues

I am sure my 2 gpu's and 920 alone pulls more than your whole system. This PSU is up there with the corsair HX and seasonic as already mentioned. I prefer the price to be lower, but its still a good deal @ $110. the only other psu's that are rated this well in this class are the HX and Seasonic as mentioned.

Fry's is having a sale on that Antec Quatro 1000W for $129.99. I wonder if that one is worth it? The fan is a 80mm though.

the quattro 1k doesnt seem like a very good psu to me. combined 12v is only 840w=70A not good in my book for a kw psu. I guess for the price if its built well and is of great quality, it would be one to add to the list
