Hi,
I am looking into purchasing a 1GB 4870 to replace my 8800GT. I would prefer to buy a 5770, but my motherboard is not compatible with the 5770 from what I understand (Asus A8r32-MVP Deluxe). Yeah, I'm still running a good ol' socket 939!
Here is my current setup:
Opteron 170 o'clocked to 2.6 at 1.35V
Asus A8r32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard
2GB PC3200 (4x512 sticks)
Audigy X-Fi Gamer
NX8800GT 512MB
Powered by Antec 430W Truepower 2.0
Now I know the power for the hungry 4870 comes from the 12v rail, and this particular PSU has 2 12v rails for a max of 34a (408W). See below specs for PSU.
OUTPUT
+3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 +5V SB -12V
Max. Load 28.0A* 35A* 17A* 17A 2.0A 1.0A
Min. Load 0.5A 0.5A 0.4A 0.4A 0A 0A
Load Reg. ±3% ±3% ±3% ±3% ±5% ±5%
Ripple V(p-p) 50mV 50mV 120mV 120mV 50mV 120mV
* +5V, +3.3V, +12V1, 12V2 maximum output 410 Watts max.
So it looks like I have enough room with the combined 12v rails. Any idea if the 4870 will run ok with the PSU in this setup?
thanks!
