I was getting tired of seeing below rated (but within spec) voltage rails with the TruePower 550, and thought the TrueControl 550 was worth a whirl. OCing stresses a system.. Include a Radeon 9700 Pro, TV card, HDDs, CD burner, DVD, USB devices, etc... and it could be taxing. Does it work? Yes! I was able to tune the +3.3v, +5v, and +12v rails to be alittle above spec while running Prime95. The system does have a more solid feel to it also. :) The PSU fan speed is also externally adjustable to purr along quietly if you want. I purchased the TrueControl from NewEgg, and IMO it is worth the $$ since the TruePower does not have adjustable pots.

Anyway, the specs on the TrueControl are Here. Features include:
TrueControl control panel installs in 5.25" drive bay and still supports a 3.5" drive. Adjust voltage outputs and minimum fan speed from the front of your case.

User-adjustable, individual dedicated circuits for main +3.3V, +5V, and +12V outputs.

Dedicated output circuitry for each voltage output, overcomes the limitations of combined output of traditional design. Get all the power you need when you need it most.

Voltage Feedback to maintain accurate voltage to all components: adds stability to your system
Antec Low Noise Technology achieves the optimum balance between noise reduction and necessary cooling.

ATX12V for AMD and Intel based systems including P4.

Two double ball bearing fans.

Gold plated connectors.

+5V @ < 47A
+3.3V @ < 48A
+12V @ < 18A
isnt that a bit low for a 12v rail?

im not really up this stuff ~
but doesnt an AMD need strong 5v and 3.3v rails, whereas a P4 needs a stronger 12v rail?
(or something like that?)

+12V @ < 18A

I think you were looking at the overload protection specs... The rated output specs are:

+5v 40A
+3.3v 32A
+12v 24A

EDIT: I have all of my rails @ full load tuned to:

+5v 5.06v
+3.3v 3.34v
+12v 12.06v

I would like to get one of these.Isn't the 12+ a little low at 24A.My 525 Watt Enermax is 28-32A something like that on the 12+.I run a P4 so I want to be sure 24A is enough.

Technonut, which one you have?.There are 3 versions of it.
It just says Model: TrueControl 550 on the box. It is the only TrueControl that NewEgg has, and the only wattage (550) that Antec has it in if I am not mistaken...

Interesting you should mention that. I have a 550W Enermax coming in on Monday. (a deal I could not pass up ;) ) I wanted to see how it does since the the rating on the +3.3, 5, and 12 is 36A each. On Monday I will post the results. I still like being able to tune the TrueControl regardless. It will come in handy when trying out different mobos.

EDIT: I am running a P4 also, and think that 24A is plenty, especially since I am able to adjust the rails now..

Yah that's pretty much the case with AMD chips/mobos, but there have been a few that have been using the P4-style 12V connector for the mobos.
Anyways, that 12V listing is definitely wrong, since my TrueBlue 480W is rated at 22A on the 12V, 38A on the +5V and 30A on the +3.3V. 12V didn't need as much in the past, but that's changing now with so many people adding tons of HDDs, Optical drives, CC's, bay accessories, fans, and friggin video cards that draw inordinate amounts of power from the 12V.

Are you checking the voltages with a voltmeter, or just relying on software? I haven't found software to be very accurate.

No... No voltmeter testing yet.. I just use the Winbond Hardware Doctor and the BIOS. I know that the mobos I tested so far are more stable after tweaking the rails. That is not my imagination.. :) If a voltmeter is used, it should be tested on the mobo after going through the voltage regulators, not the molex connectors on the PSU.

Antec had a customer service rep post on AMDMB.com (and other forums) awhile back that must have listened to the reports of users having issues with the TruePower not having adjustable pots, and came out with the TrueControl.

my enermax 350w:

+3.3v = 32A
+5v = 32A
+12v = 26A

for amd, +5v line is most important i believe...i get around 4.999 idle (software) and 4.92 load (software)
