Antec TrueBlue 480W for 8800GT?

Q6600

Hi guys.
I'm just wondering if my Antec TrueBlue 480W PSU will handle an eVGA 8800GT 512M SSC? Does any one else have this setup?

Other components:
CPU: Q6600
MB: Asus P5K Deluxe
RAM: 2x1Gb Kingston PC6400
HD1: Seagate 250GB 7200.10
HD1: Seagate 160GB 7200.9
Sound: Creative Audigy
DVD: LG DVD RW

Thanks!

480w should be enough, it has 28a on the 12v rail which should also be enough. I'm not sure about the qaulity of the trueblue series, but in THEORY it should run just fine, and with antec, chances are it's at least a decent unit.

It should handle it, but just watch the temperature of the PSU (exhaust air). The caps in the TruePower/Blue series DON'T like heat.

I had my TrueBlue driving my X1800XT for awhile. Not sure if it was the heat or something else, but it eventually wouldn't allow my DFI RS482 mobo to boot. Antec's customer service is known to be outstanding, so I just RMA'd it and got a replacement.

It's now on my file server/media encoder (secondary) computer. And runs fine - I still note that the air exhausting out of the rear is pretty durn hot, despite the relatively lower power draw of the computer. I put a Corsair 520HX on my main computer, and that PSU runs noticeably cooler.

Make sure you've got good cooling in your case, not only for your vid card, but also your PSU and you should be fine.

BTW, I have two TrueBlue's - the other one's doing great.

I think you'll be fine. Yes, like PianoMan said, that pwr supply does run a bit hot. It seems to be handling my system just fine, though (knock on wood). My case is beastly...total of seven 80mm fans (2 front & 2 side blowing in, 3 blowing out), add an o/c'ed E4300 that runs hot + 4X1GB DDR2 + 2 optical drives + 8800GTS 512 (not o/c'ed).....you get the idea 😉
