i noticed last night that one or more fans, didnt know which, kept slowing down and speeding back up again and again while i watched a dvd... i look a little, nothing... it finally stops and all is well for the rest of the movie

so i look in my case this morning, as its happening again, and my 2 vantec tornados (exhausting) are stopped... i keep looking around... oh, my psu fans have also stopped
rolleye.gif
...

i fiddled w/the power cables, twitching them around a little. nothing... the 2 vantecs are plugged into the "fan only" plugs... all other powered goodies are working.

some other goodies that live on this psu are:
9700 pro
gigbyte 8inxp
p4 3.06
gig ( 4 sticks) corsair xms 3200
wd se 80gb (8mb buff)

any thoughts?

do you have the temperature controlled psu? usually those fan only ones are regulated by a thermal sensor in the psu, thereby slowing them down and what not. try running something real intensive for awhile and they should get kickin, or if you like, eheh just light a fire under it

i does say on the box " truepower controller controls speed of power supply and external case fans... but this has never happend before... cold ( ive had the windows open all winter!) or hot

my fans, as they all do, have a very destinct sound when running. if that tone fluxuates at all, you notice. thats weird, thanks for making me look.

it doesnt seem to wanna turn on, even after everything warms up in there... my cpu temps are up about 4-5°c higher than normal... still the psu refuses to turn on the fans... must be the thermal sensor in the psu not reading the temps right or something...

waiting for antec to call back... had to leave a message (wtf?) cause they were all out @ lunch

If you feel it`s faulty then contact Antec support for RMA and further technical help on your Antec PSU,not much else you can really do without replacing it.

Is the fan header plug from the powersupply plugged into the board? If you want better cooling don't use the fan only plugs. Something is wrong though because. When you use those the fans run at the speed of the PS fan. PS fan isn't running so the rest on the fan only plugs won't run either.

I'd hate to be the person that caused you to lose all your hardware because of questionable advice but one of the main objectives in the design of the Antec True Power PSUs was noise reduction. In very low power usage the PSU fans and the fans connected to the "fan only" plugs will power down or slow down. If that freaks you out, then connect the fans to the regular connectors and call Antec tech support...I have a feeling they will tell you the same thing. Watching a DVD, if I remeber correctly, is one of the situations I have heard of that cause the True Power PSUs to power down.
