Is there something wrong with the true control? Why does the tp 550 always show up on polls and recommendations and such, isnt the control panel an added bonus?

I have the old version which has been working fine. I use it mainly for the fan speed control, but have never tested the output with a DMM to see what the line adjustments will do. I saw on another forum someone with their new TP II version had all the adjustments maxed out (at correct voltage) when it came, leaving no option but to LOWER the voltages which would be useless.

Same here. My AXP 2500+ rig has a Smart Power 400W PSU that is still going strong after 4 years and my wife's PC has a Sonata with a True 380W that has been running a Prescott 3.4GHz just fine for about nine months.

True Control allows for manual adjustments of the voltage rails. Just like the Powerstream. IMO a stupid idea and a complete waste.

I just got my TPII-550 and let me tell you I am pleased beyond belief. Here are my rail readings, using a digital multimeter.

(Rail: Min-Max)

12V+ : 11.80V-12.10V
3.3V+ : 3.28V-3.34V
5V+ : 4.92V-5.05V

?

I thought the Antec Phantom model was the one which passed the stress test on tomshardware.

My original Truecontrol 550 is the original gangsta with a whopping 24amps on the 12V rail. I've been running it 24/7 for the last 2 years. Tested with Fluke DMM I got:

Adjustability
11.63 to 12.35
4.90 to 5.21
3.220 to 3.414

I adjusted them to 12.01, 5.00, 3.30

Running Prime95 and Battlefield 2 for extended periods of time the V actually went up from 12.01 to 12.02, 5.0 remained the same, 3.3 went to 3.302.

Measuring from the 4 pin molex on the back of the unit compared to directly off the 20 pin connector made only a .01 difference (lower) in 12V reading.

Speedfan reported 12.65 to 12.71V, 4.91V, and the 3V reading was only 1/2 the value it should be --- so it shows what a joke the software readings are.

All in all, the 550 was pretty bored of my system:
