Hi all,

I am new to this forum and I think its great.
I am planning on getting a couple of Antec SX840's from www.emscomputing.com (Good deal by the way...$100.00 + $19.02 shipping per case). As I'm sure you all know, the cases come with 2 Antec 80mm fans. How are these fans.....according to Antec's site they have just about the same stats as Sunon fans..... (Antec says 34cfm, 30dB). On paper they seem pretty good, but how do you guys with Antec SX cases like them?

Also, I had an idea, and was wondering if you Antec guys could let me know if it was feasable. I have read (here and elsewhere) that positive pressure in the case keeps the dust away. This would be pulling in more air than you are exhausting. SO my question is instead of two 80mm at the front of the Antec SX840, would 2 120mm fans fit instead? (2 x 120mm fans > 2 x 80mm fans + 1 psu fan) I know you'd have to make custom mounts and stuff, but would they otherwise fit? Do you guys think it would result in better cooling?

Let me know what you think..

Thanks, and great forum!

I dont have the SX830, but my friend does and I've looked at it enough to think that there is no way 2 120mm fans will fit in the front. What you could do is cut a blowhole in the side of the case, above the PCI cards. Not only will it provide more intake, it will also keep your video card cool :)

No real reason to mod an SX, unless you just can't stand not to....

The stock fans are OK, a little loud for me, so mine has 4 pcp&c silencers, lots of guys use 80mm L1a panaflos.

Positive vs negative pressure has no effect on dust buildup. The only way to change that is to use filters on intake fans. Even then, they need to be large or relatively ineffective to avoid cleaning them often....
