antec sx1040B vs Windtunnel III (based on fong kai) from cooler guy?

I mean,..is it worth to shell out $80 more to buy the window tunnel with blowhows and no ps? I could get a deal on antec 1040 for $120 including the power supply..also...who here recommend the default antec 400 watt power supply versus enermax 430 watts sleep mode power supply...this refers to both quality, sound...thanks

Run default PSU the Enermax is way overrated. thin long wires= design flaw to me IMHO. plus the antec 400w is adjustable w/ the pots inside.

if you run an athlon the 5 and 3 rails need to have high power ratings, and the antec has a much higher 5 and 3 rail rating that the Enermax.

Having two of the Antec SX1040 (Non black) cases with the 400W power supply, I couldn't be happier.

I'm running a 1.4GHz TBird, 512 Megs of DDR PC2100, ECS K7S5A motherboard, 40G Maxtor, GeForce2 GTS + CDRW and CDReader in one of the cases...Installed 2 extra case fans (80mm) for a total of 4.....There have been NO problems so far...Using a Golden Gate 30 cfm HSF on the CPU, the temp maxes out at 48C running full load SETI. Not a single glitch of the ECS board and this power supply.....

The other case houses a Tyan Tiger MP board with Dual 1.4GHz TBirds, 512 Megs of Registered DDR PC2100, 80G Western Digital HD, LeadTek GeForce2 Pro 64 Meg Video card, Sound Blaster Live, 3Com Nic and Aopen 52X CDR. The same 4 fans have been installed in the case and all is working well. The only difference is that I can hear the Smart fan in the power supply kicking up and down on this one...probably due to the big load that the two TBirds are putting on the power supply....but no problems so far.

okay..thanks guy...anyone with experience on the windtunnel III? I heard it's a fonkai 320 modified but these bastards at cooltek wanted for $159 plus tax and shipping (with no power supply)...wtf...only difference i see is the two blowhole..i do a lot of overclocking so do these blowhole really help that much? Or the 4 fans in the antec is good enough?

I would feel comfortable with the Antec 400W PSU. It's on AMD's recommended list for up to a 1.4GHz Tbird, last I looked. Interestingly, Antec's site is showing a new 460W power supply that's pending UL approval. link OTOH, my Enermax 330W hasn't given me any reason to complain either... it's pushing a 1.4GHz Tbird just fine, even if it's not on the recommended list.
