Looking to get a new computer and thinking the Antec SX1040B may be my choice....Any comments or suggestions? I am willing to consider other cases just like this one best so far...

Excellent, awesome, great! You may want to consider picking up a couple of Panaflo L1A 80mm case fans to replace the stock fans which are a tad loud.

I was debating about getting a lian, a custom case, or one of these...eventually i went with the 1040 and i have been quite pleased for a good 4 months or so now. the 400W power supply might be more then what you need, but you can never have too much power imo. this case is tried and proven all over the net and even alienware uses them for their computers. easy to access everything and mod...my only complaint is the feet the case rests on, but they were easily removed.

I dig the look. I'm planning on picking up a blue one from designcomp.com if he's got them in stock. It's a little more expensive without PSU or fans, but I like the blue b/c I hadn't seen it before.

Off topic, has anyone had any problems with the sides vibrating on the AntecSX series? I bought an SX840 about 6 weeks ago and the side panels recently started vibrating, somewhat loud and very annoying.
I just want to find out if I am the only one with this problem.

Other than that little quirk, it's the best case I've ever owned.

I have the 840. Mine aren't vibrating. I can see how that could happen though. Without the screws in the back (which I don't use), the side door is a bit loose. If it were mine, I would try finding out where the rattling is coming from exactly and try to bend the case metal to remove the gap that the vibration is occuring in.

I have a SX1040 and LOVE it. It's the best case I've ever owned.

No rattles here.

Anyone else know of any good 80mm case fans for the Antec SX1040B and are they necessary? I know it comes w/ 2 case and 1 HD fan stock. Let me know of any other good, quite, cheap fans and where I may get them. Thanks all.

you can get panaflo 80mm l1a's from bgmicro.com for 2.49 each, or i think it goes down to 1.99 each if you order 10 or more. can't go wrong at that price.

That quote is pretty ridiculous. I've never tried human, but we're made of meat too. Eat up!

By the way, I've been debating between this case and the Lian-Li PC65. It's too hard of a decision. The reason I like the Antec is because it's big and has the door to hide the drives. With the Lian-Li, which is a much nicer case, it would look silly to have beige drives with an aluminum case.

Do you like the style and features of the case? Or is it the 400w P/S? The exact same case can be bought under different names for less. I bought the same case from Newegg under the Enermax brand with 330w P/S by Enermax for $99, and that wasn't the least expensive I found, but I did want a company with a good reputation. The case is great, three fans, plenty of bays, and still has open space.

I was actually am after the look and 400w p/s. I know a guy who got the Enermax and said it is a sharper black and I may go with it. But i found the Antec SX1040B for just over $100 on pricewatch. Thanks

I love my 10x0 case. In regards to the question about variety in price...my understanding is(correct me if I'm wrong guys) that Chenming manufactures the Base case. The only differences between different brands of the case are the PS brand, fan brand, and/or quality/color of the paint. Also I have occassionally seen versions of the case with or without a second HD bay with fan cooling.

So yeah you can find them cheap...and if you don't like the brand that comes with it, many places that sell them will let you just swap out the components inside with other brand(or just do it yourself like I did)...its mostly just a matter of finding one thats the right price for the look you want. I'm currently running the Antec SX1040b version with an Enermax 431 watt PS, 80mm quiet panafloes in the four slots, and I dremmeled in myself a 92mm quiet panafloe on the side door.

Its the perfect case for me. I really like the Lian-Lis as a friend has one. But since I don't lug my computer around and don't go too crazy with the OCing, the Antec case was the perfect choice for the price. About th eonly bad thing I've ever heard about these lines of cases is some don't like the drive-bay door...but thats just personal opinion. The only thing these cases really lack is a removable Mobo tray otherwise they are well built, decently roomy, and nice and cool.
