I think the door gives it a really clean look especially if you have the black case and don't want to have to match with black drives.

i currently have a 1030 waiting for a dual amd or intel in the near future...and for more money to burn...but i'm quite happy with my 830 right now. if you take out the front bezel an 830 has the same exact frame of the 1030...does anyone know if you can order the front bezel of a 1030 from antec just in case?
 
Unless u run a server 24/7, or to have the black door covering beige components, i don't see why anyone would want the door!
