This is probably a "warm" deal, but if you keep an eye on it you can catch it when its "hot".
MyChaseShop.com has the case currently for $92.53 + $3.50 shipping. Their prices fluctuate frequently though. I purchased the case a couple of weeks ago for $83.50 shipped.

think its around 90 at onvia.com with free shipping. Computers4sure has it for 80ish i think after brandsforless free shipping and 20 off rebates.

I need a case for my new AMD Athlon 650 system. Everyone seems to love the Antec cases lately.

What's the big difference between this Antec SX1030 and the 282?

After hearing about the Brands4Less deal, I started checking out cases at the Antec website. Not to turn this into a hardware discussion, but does anybody have advice on their gemstone cases? The power supply is only 250, but for 80.99-20 bucks and free shipping, it sounds like a real good deal on a cool looking case.

I think Antec has gained a little momentum because of the onvia and deals lately for cheap sx830s and sx1030 (kinda like the samsung monitor rebates), although its a great deal anyway. I want my .40 pack :)

the ks-282 is the lower series of antec, not even as good as the ks-280 go look at their website http://www.antec-inc.com, but the sx1030 has a door, and more fan placements, plus free i/o panels

You guy should go to the forum cases/cooling or search for comments on your cases, because it allows you greater perspective for your buying decision. I don't like the looks of rht gemstones.

I've had this case for a while now...and boy do I love it. I suggest getting a couple more fans with it, because with all 4 going at once, that baby really cirulates the stuff. I really like the fan that you can put right on the hard drive bay...helps with people like me that have 7200 + rpm drives...helps the cooling. Boy does this thing make some noise though. I'm lucky that I need noise to sleep though, because w/all 4 case fans + a cpu fan this thing sound like 3 airplanes. Anyway, it's highly recommended by me...if that means anything, and I'm sure it doesn't.

The Antec 282 is a mid-size case, I think its fine. Would definately buy another, in some ways I prefer it to my current Antec full size (832 I think). Make sure you get it with the excellent, quiet and Athlon approved 300 watt power supply (Antec 303x). Onvia has the 282 for 60.86 with free shipping, if you find it cheaper elsewhere, let me know-I'm in the market for a case.

I built my Athlon in one of these cases, can't complain at all. Would like to pick up another for my second system, perhaps the SX830 since this one will sit on my desk away from my 2 year olds fingers.

I hope it isn't against the rules to refresh a thread like this.

If it is I apologize and won't do it again.

I picked up one of these SX1030 cases back when they had some sort of coupon thing going on I don't remember.. They rock. I used the case for a BSD box that's colo'd at an isp.. No one can get into it (without breaking it I guess) without the key. There's also plenty of places for fans for overclockers and hot scsi drives. There's 2 fan slots in the back that would blow directly onto the CPU. One *inside* the internal drive cage, and I think 1 more in the back at the top.

I've liked Antec for probably 3 years now, and have used many of their cases for entry/mid level servers.

I even built a RAID with one of their 9bay datatank cases and 6 of their removable scsi pullout racks. Was definately a wonderful sight. Not only did the case have 2 big fans in it, each removable rack had a mini fan with vents in the front of it too. Looked really cool with the 7 segment device id LED on each one of the racks too.. They even have device id rotary switches on each receiver part of the rack.

As far as a couple of posts I've seen about other antec cases only having a 230 or 250w PS in em, I consider their PS's to be much higher quality than the OEM junk in most of the other cases out nowadays.. like enlight, MP, Premier, USI, etc..

Prolly not the right thread for this, I just wanted to confirm that this really is a hot deal on a *GREAT* case. They could sell these for $120+ and it'd still be a decent price.

And nope, I don't work for Antec :)
