Antec SX 830 question

😕 I am installing an ASUS P3V4X and have a question about the power connections. The Antec's power connections for the switches(LED's, speaker etc) have several different colour combinations of wires. Each connector has a little black arrow designating one of the wires on the connector. Is this the power or the ground wire? There doesn`t seem to be a convention as the arrow is on the orange wire for the speaker and the white wire for the HDD LED. The Antec manual is no help as it just says the labels on the connectors should face the front of the case (not possible with my mobo). Thanks from a 1st time builder.

those little wires are a big PITA... they really need to come up with a better way... anyhow your motherboard manual should have a diagram.. just plug them in the way you think they should work and if they don't switch em around. I assumed that the wire with the arrow on my sx830 was hot, and I don't believe it was.. let me check for you..

power led - green is +
speaker - orange is +
hdd led - red is +

the rest I don't think it matters. thats what I was able to see quickly with my Abit KT7A manual and looking at my connections.. GOTTA LOVE THAT QUICK RELEASE DOOR!

The only ones that the direction really matter on are the LED's. I usually just plug them in, and if they don't work, turn them around.

Thanks guys, I guess what I was most concerned about was the possibility of any damage powering up with the connectors reversed. BTW AMD4ME2, there doesn`t seem to be any convention with the arrows as the hot wire has the arrow for the speaker and not for the HDD LED.

That doesn't suprise me 😀 I too was mislead by the arrows.. but I've built enough systems to know that it won't hurt to have them backwards the lights just won't work till you switch em around. But I really think some new kind of connector for those would be nice.. they don't always go on snug and sometimes slip off when your in there screwing with other stuff..

not on my case rarebear 🙂 I don't think they even bother to check when they build a case.. tsk tsk..
