Antec Super LANboy with AMD!!!

Hey Everyone, 😛

I just recently bought my Antec Super Lanboy case and I am kinda stuck...

Is it possible to connect the front panel (which has the mic, audio, 2 USB ports & 3 LEDS) onto my AMD Mobo? :disgust:

I know it says the socket for the panel is for P4...but is there anyway of modifying it so that it will work on an AMD mobo?

BTW I have the Gigabyte K8NS-ULTRA 939 motherboard.

Thanks,

Slick 😎

only problem i see is if the cables don't reach for some unknown reason. If the pins are the same, i would just plug them in. I have never heard of such a thing where you need a intel based solution just to plug in the usb and firewire ports...

The ports use Intel standard connectors, they are not specifically for Intel motherboards.

To be safe compare your mobo pin outs to the panel pin outs and match them up. This assumes your mobo supports the ports involved.

They will plug in just fine if the cords are long enough, the plugs are all standard pins and should work. My AMD setup works just fine in my super lanboy, though I only use the front USB ports not the audio.

"Intel standard" is just like a way to make sure every case maker does those cables the same way. All motherboards are 100% compatible with Intel standard, if they support w/e it is you want to plug in.

Yes your board will support the USB/audio/firewire. 😀

Hmm ok... but how come the connector from the front panel has a thing blocking one of the pin holes in the socket? Should I just take it out or is that dangerous?

Any ideas anyone?

You are probably trying to put the connector in the wrong spot if that is the case. Make sure you are not trying to put USB where Firewire should go and concult your MB manual.

The front panel audio cable is keyed to fit a certain way into the motherboard. Thats the thing blocking the pin hole. Look in your mobo manual to see how it fits. The cable in my Super LANboy worked fine with my mobo. The USB and LED connectors will probably be in an entire different location on the motherboard relative to the audio connectors. Read your manual.
