Ok, first time poster been reading for awhile researching cases. Ive decided on getting the super lanboy because i couldnt find any case that matched my criteria as closely or as cheaply as the super lanboy. What i was looking for was a small light case that had 3 but no more than 4 5.25 bays and used 120mm fans. Ive read that the fans that come with it arent very good so what i need is solid advice on what 120mm fans to use, i can deal with alittle noise, im looking for good airflow cuz i live in texas and the ambient temps get high in the summer. Also im looking for pics of modded super lanboys, to get ideas because i will be replacing the front grill and attempting to add 1-2 more 120mm fans to it.

Any advice is appreciated thanx

The fans are good already. I did not find them to be very noisy. But, I am very sensitive to noise. So, I inserted a 23.5-Ohm 1W resistor in series with both fans. That dropped the RPM and made them silent. The case is still pretty cool.

I suggest that you wait to get the case and try it out. You may be happy with it. If not, look at options to reduce noise.

I read that the stock fans dont push alot of air, is this true ? i want good airflow and can sacrifice alittle noise.

Does anyone know if aluminum/steel mesh fan filters/grills restrict airflow alot?

Yes i returned the aluminum mesh fan filters that i tried out. They inhibited the airflow by over 50%. This was done unscientifically and the measurement tool was my hand behind the front fan.

I posted pictures of my lanboy a while ago.

Im not very good at using a camera. That was my first time I held a camera in my life.

Ever since, I have replaced the blue thing back, and have stock exhaust 120mm as intake with AC filter material. The back will be a YateLoon Low speed 120. I have a panaflo 92mm Medium BX on the cpu now. Also, I have a 9800pro 256 with Zalman ZM80

Thank you all for the useful info. My plans are to add a 120mm fan to the window and was going to try to add one to the top as well as remove the replace the front plastic grill, and dremel out the metal where the fans go in the front and back. Looking for decent blue LED 120mm fans, leaning toward the evercools unless something else comes along.

ahhh, this is exactly what im thinking of doing when i get my super lanboy. im gunna get a front blue, high CFM 120x25 (so it fits with the plastic in the front), and get 3 sunons (120x35)
One in back, one on hole saw cut window, and one on hole saw stealth blowhole on back.

i wouldnt recommend cutting a hole int he window. It will increase the turbulence terribly in your case. Secondly, I would refrain from getting high cfm fans. The high powered fans will cause the case to vibrate so badly. The thin aluminum will act like a resonator and you get nasty noise. I would stick with the antec stock fans as they are more than enough to do the job. If you want better airflow, remove the front aluminum grille as this would have a huge effect.

would that stop the rattling noise caused by high cfm fans?

I would use EAR isolators that you can find on McMaster-Carr. Even so, its pretty tough to fully isolate the vibrations esp in high flow fans.

Since the case is relatively small, it doesnt take much airflow to evacuate the old air and bring in new air. Especially with a PSU with 120mm fan, and the front grille cut out, the airflow will be very plenty. As you can see in my picture, i took it an additional step by removing the HDD Bays. These measures dropped my temps for everything down by 7C.
