Antec Sonata or Coolermaster WaveMaster -- Quet?

I recently moved my computer to my room and now I need to get a new case to quiet it down as it sits about 4 inces from my head when I am on my bed trying to sleep. I'd also prefer not to have any lights as the other end of my room has the slidding mirror closet doors so the lights just reflect off that into my eyes unless I cover it w/ a blanket or something, but then you have heat problems 😛.

Thanks,

Agreed, the Sonata will be quieter of the two. However if you decide to use differant fans you should be able to make the wavemaster match the sonta.

Also be aware that odds are whatever HS/F you have on you CPU will most likely be louder then anything in the Sonata so you may want to upgrade there as well.

If you could care about the color of the case, get a Antec SLK3700AMB instead of the sonata. I was in the same position as you when I built my case (comp's in the room and I need it to be quiet), but after I did osme research, I chose the SLK3700 for several reasons. First, it's cheaper. Second, the drive bays dont restrict as much airflow. Third, the fan is placed in the front of hte case instead of behind the HDD's like in the Sonata. Having it placed behind the HDD's creates turbulence and sucks sir (and dust) in from the entire front of the case, not just through the filter. Just some thoughts 🙂

You can also consider the SLK3700BQE (Black Quiet Edition; basically the AMB with a single-fan power supply) instead of the Sonata. The front of the BQE has better cooling capacity and its finish won't scratch as easily as the Sonata. Buy this if you can live with just 2 front USB ports.

I just got a Lian-Li PC-6070. Its got very quiet fans and sound insulation inside the case. All-aluminum, slide-out MB tray, very few sharp edges, solidly built. Its expensive, but very nice.

I just purchased an Antec Sonata. It's extremely quiet, the only time I hear it is when the hard drive is accessed. Very impressed with the case.
