hello everyone :) ... Anyone ever used or is using ANTEC SONATA ATX 380W, USB2.0, i1394, BLACK Case?

I wanna buy a new P/S.. but this case comes with a 380Watt P/S and is for only $145CDN ... an Antec 380 W p/s will cost around $100CDN.. do you think its a good idea?

I have a Sonata for my main system, see Bigger, Badder in my sig :)

Put it together back in March and have been really happy with it, I have the floppy, CD-RW and a Maxtor 160GB and WD 120GB HDD's. For cooling I run one Panaflo L1A 120mm exhaust on the fan line out of the PSU, with a Panaflo L1A 92mm on my SLK-900 heatsink, video is nothing special, a retail ATi Radeon 8500. It stays cool, 37C max temp at load and is very quiet, my aquarium across the room is louder. I bought mine for $98.00 US. I think it's a great case.
BTW, I just built a system for my G/F from an Antec Minuet, in the process of final tweaks and software installs, it does need better cooling tho.

beautiful case with a beautiful shiny black finish. it comes with a 120mm rear fan. i am thinking about adding a 120mm panaflo L1A for the front. winter is coming, so i may not need it. i got it for $82 shipped. I think it is definitely worth up to $100. A solid case with quiet cooling with a decent PSU. What more can you ask for?

Great! thanks Wintermute76..i'll order the case on monday..sells for $145CDN here..will run Asus A7N8X Deluxe/AMD2500+@2.2GHZ/Vantec Aeroflow, ATI9600PRO, Maxtor 80 Gig in it..

do you have any good links to 120mm panaflo L1A fan.. i think i'll add one to front :)

no problem man, i also want to know where to get cheap panaflos

i got case from staples after coupons. amazon is always cheap, $100 shipped.

LOL! i agree, it comes with a decent Antec True 380W P/S, i'm sure you can easily sell it on ebay or somewhere :)

I've been using one since early this year. The only problem I've had is that I couldn't install Windows XP on it while the fan was hooked up to the temperature controlled "fan only" plugs. I actually just a few minutes ago plugged the fan into the "fan only" ports, and everything's running fine (I'd just been running the fan at full speed the whole time).

It's pretty quiet. Actually quieter than an X-Box I think, more like my Gamecube. The power supply is good, and it's really easy to work in. It's kind of annoying that the power switch is INSIDE the front door, so I basically have to have that haning open all the time. Goes great with a Seagate Barracuda V drive.

According to Intel's monitoring tools, it's running at 35° processor, 34° "system zone 1", 33° "system zone 2" with nothing but normal apps running.

Just ran through the Unreal 2 demo, and while it was running I got 50/38/40, which seems to be close to the safe limit (according to Intel's tools). The fan's sped up almost 300 RPM faster than before. (But what fan is that measuring? The case fan somehow? The CPU's fan?)

Now I'm back to the desktop, but running United Devices cancer research tool (which I'm normally running), and I've gone to: 49/38/40 and the fan speed's dropped by 50.


The rest of my system:
2.4Ghz Northwood P4 (533mhz bus)
Intel 845 chipset motherboard
Audigy 2
Geforce 4200 128MB (with RAM clocked to 4400 speeds by the manufacturer)
512MB PC2700 RAM

I do not know how common this is, but I was poking around in the BIOS on my Gigabyte GA-8IRXP and found a "remote" start up option. I double click my mouse (wireless, so in theory I could start up from across the room and impress my friends, if I had any friends) and the system starts up. No need to open and close the door on the Sonata anymore.

Heh, I discovered the same after I got my Sonata up and running. I just use ctrl+f1, this way the cat can't turn it on (well not easily anyway) :) And it's actually a good idea to do it, seeing as the door is somewhat flimsy.

GIve the cat a little time. She has already figured out how to turn the computer via CTRL-F1, but probably doesn't want you to catch her at any of those mouse-porn sites until she knows you a little better.
