Antec Sonata and Asus PC4800-E overheating

omething very strange started happening last week. i've had my system for about 4 months with no cooling problems. All of a sudden i'm getting overheating problems (screen going all wonky and pixelated, freeze-up and even a shutdown).

i think it's an overheat problem as Asus Probe History tells me temperature hit 72 degrees which is the upper limit.

looking inside the case, looks like the fan at the back of my Antec Sonata is turning rather weakly. sometimes when i check on it, it's not turning at all -- a quick prod will start it up.

is the fan the problem? is there something i can do to address this? repair the fan? replace?
Powersupply maybe?
something else??

also wondering how i can monitor case fan speed from my Asus Probe.

is this the case temperature or the processor temperature?

open up the case and point a room fan into it. i still doubt the case would get that hot with a fan running weakly, unless you put some sort of insulative material on the inside of it.

if you are overclocking any, please put everything back at stock speeds.

if it is the processor you're talking about, make sure the heat sink is making firm contact with the processor.
