Antec Sonata 2 Possibly Overheating?

I have the suspicion that my components are overheating in my Antec Sonata 2 case. My setup is:

Pentium D Dual-Core 830 @ 3.0GHZ
Asus P5WD2 Premium Mobo
2x512MB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-667
WD 250GB SATA-2 16MB Cache HD
Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
Asus X800XL PCI-E Video Card
LiteOn 16X DVD-ROM
NEC 16X 3540 DVD-RW
Antec Sonata 2
Antec TruePower 2.0 450W PSU

The CPU has the Zalman CNPS-7700-Cu cooler mounted on it with Arctic Silver 5. This is the big 120mm flower heatsink.

The video card has the Zalman VF700-Cu cooler mounted on it with Arctic Silver 5. This is the flower-shaped-derived video card cooler, along with heatsinks for the RAM chips.

The Sonata 2 case came with a rear 120mm Tri-Cool fan. I added one more in the front, and both are running at medium speed.

Here is what worries me:

CPU Idle with Zalman 7700-Cu: 70*C
Mobo Idle with Zalman 7700-Cu: 45*C

CPU Load with Zalman 7700-Cu: 74*C
Mobo Load with Zalman 7700-Ci: 49*C

Also, even when the PC idles for just 30 minutes, the rear of the Sonata 2 case really heats up from the PSU. The video card with the Zalman VF700-Cu is fine. It only fluctuates between 40*C and 44*C idle or load.

How come I am getting these insane temperatures? I tried the computer with a comparable Thermaltake heatsink, and the temps were even higher by 3*C. I tried it with the Intel cooler, and they were 6*C higher.

I re-did the Zalman 7700 installation three times, with a friend, to make sure I didn't overdose on Arctic Silver or mounted it bad. All times, I mounted the stuff good.

I even tried running the PC outside of the case, in the wide open air on my desk. And the CPU still reaches these temps.

Are the Pentium D processors really that hot? I mean, I'm using good components here, and I have proper additional case fans even!

If you ran it outside of the case and it got that hot then it's not the case. Check the voltage and make sure it is correct on the CPU, but just so you know the current Intel CPUs output an incredible amount of heat.

Also make sure the fan on the 7700 is set to high, might be something simple like that. If you can lower the voltage to the CPU and keep the system stable your heat should go down though.

#1...you have Intel

#2...your temp sensor may be off

3#...the PSU is not very efficient

If the Zalman heat sink is only warm to the touch, then the CPU temp is probably closer to 60C.
