Antec Solo Case and direction of airflow of front fans

Hi I have a Antec Solo Case and wanted to know which direction should the front fans blow air from the front of the case. Should they blow air in so air moves from the front to back or should they blow the air out of the case so the heat around the HD's leaves.

Also I was thinking about getting the antec tricool 92mm fans cause they are pretty cheap and seem to be silent. If anyone has other suggestions for something that works better or a good place to buy them that'll be helpful also. Thanks.

HDDs don't really generate that much heat, but left to build up in tight spaces can shorten the life of the drives. Most front fans I know of are intake fans and the rear fans are exhaust. There are a few cases that go against the grain re. airflow, but if you bought one, you'd know it. The Solo is standard, front to rear airflow.

That's it, in a nutshell. If it went the other way, then the included air filter would be rendered useless for keeping the inside of the case clean.

Any quiet 92mm fan should suffice. Regarding Antec Tri-Cool fans, they don't seem very "silent" to me even when turned low.

Any suggestions on which other fans would be better? Thanks

Panaflo low and medium speed 92mm fans were among the quietest, but now they are made in china, they aren't quite as good as they were. Not much experience w/ other 92mm fans here. Perhaps the Sanyo at sidewindercomputers.com would be good if there is room for a little thicker fan (32mm). You'll have to use some sort of controller with them if quiet is important.

I have a few Antec fans and they seem to be medium quiet for the rpm they run at. The difference in noise between different brand fans is not as great as the noise between different rpm's.

I bought a Scythe Kaze-Jyu 100mm fan when it was on sale based on someone else's recommendation. It's a 100mm fan that has a set of 92mm mounting holes, so it can be used with mounts of either dimension. The way the fan bay on the front of the Solo is set up though, it only works on one of the two mounts. (The bottom set if I recall correctly.)

It's very quiet to my ears though.

I've heard the same recommendations before. Sounds like your best bet for the front. There are lots of options for the back fans too. Scythe S-FLEX, Noctua, and Nexus among others are popular for their 120mm case fans.
