I would like to buy Antec Signature SG-850 . However it looks like almost 17% of customer who bought Antec Signature on Newegg and decided to share their opinion, complain about reliability of the product. 5 years of Manufacturer Warranty is a good argument and huge advantage but still I have some doubts. So I have asked major PSU retailer and he said that high failure rate had been noticed (FUD?) than I asked another big one he said almost nothing (he was strongly moved about that type of questions about Antec Sigmature).
What is yours opinion and experience?

Why do you want to buy that PSU in particular? That and what will you be using that needs so much power?

Why do you want to buy that PSU in particular?
I have went trough many reviews, recomendation lists and forum discussion to found the most voltage stable and low ripple noise power supplier. Additionally this PSU is on the recommended list of Asus P6X58D motherboard.

That and what will you be using that needs so much power?

I have a few HDs and I am going to overclock I7 + powers consuming graphic cards (maybe GTX470) + DVD +BR than PSU calculators shows power supplier close to 850W (including 25-30% margin for capacitor ageing). Personally I would prefer to have rather some extra power than to be just on the edge.

Unless by "graphics cards" you mean more than 1, that calculator is horribly wrong. If you are only using 1 graphics card, a good 600 watt unit is more than enough even for a 480, let alone a 470 (at load, I wouldn't expect you to pull much more than 400w with a 470 if that) and that will cost you far less. Most machines spend most of their time at idle (i.e. doing something less intensive than gaming) and the one you listed will quite likely be using <20% of an 850watt PSU at idle, which significantly lowers the efficiency of the unit. (This is why getting a PSU that's too big can be bad as efficiency falls off a cliff at super low loads percentage-wise.)

Having said all of that, the Antec Signature is a solid line and I'd have no problems recommending it if that's what you really want.

I doubt that it's very unrealiable...

It should run cool, the caps should get some air, so it should last a while.

Isn't the signature Antec's top-of-the line series?

So I have asked major PSU retailer and he said that high failure rate had been noticed

Those were the really old models, Antec hasn't manufactured them for quite some time...

Anyway, yeah, 850w is overkill for that setup.
