ANTEC rebate fulfillment does it again

I bought a 450 watt antec off newegg and it had a 20 or 25 dollar rebate. I photocopied the invoice and UPC before sending both originals in. Now, 10 days later, I get an email saying there is no UPC code so they won't honor the rebate. I was able to go in and resubmit it, but they say they will not honor a photocopy, it has to be the original. I've already sent the original in and no longer have it. It was all included in the envelope.

What a crock. Do I just send the photocopy in with an explanation or what are my options?

You can send in a photocopy, make phone calls, hire lawyers, send emails, contact the Federal Trade Commission and your state Attorney General, beg Newegg, and so on and so forth.

I'm guessing you can't prove much of anything. He said, she said, etc.

Or you can figure you learned a lesson for a fairly low price, renew your vows regarding rebates and try to move on.

I'd take the choice that was most likely to keep my blood pressure down. That would be to move on---but you may be more aggravated by thinking that someone defrauded you than you would be by fighting for the rebate. The rebate outfit is hoping you'll move on--that's all part of their calculated strategy. I'm not sure how they determine who to defraud---could be completely random and your number came up.

But you most likely knew all of this before you bought the product and simply ignored any previous vows you may have made.

The sting goes away in time. I got ripped off for a $10 memory rebate about 10 years ago, took my "never again" vows, and then caved in to a $40 power supply rebate a few months back. I did get the PSU rebate, so now I'm susceptible to being ripped off again.

Hello Slag,

I'm sorry to hear that your rebate is not being honored. We'd like to look into this further to see what other options are available. Please send an email to wecare.twitter@newegg.com with your order number and the item you are submitting the rebate for. Look forward to hearing from you! -Rella (NeweggSupport)
