Antec Power Supply Warranty

So about a month ago, my sister's computer died. I finally got around to fixing it and found out that the PS died on me and replaced it with one of my older PS unit. Does anybody know how I would go about claiming the 3 year warranty for Antec? Will they give me a new PS unit? The PS model is Antec SL350 Smartpower...it came with my Antec SLK 3700AMB case (just purchased it from Axiontech.com in August 2004).

Also is there any other way I can actually test if this PS is bad? I tested it by plugging it into my motherboard, but it won't work. I just want to be certain before I ship it somewhere for a replacement. Thanks.

If it doesn't power up mobo then why wouldn't u want to return it?

Antec has pretty good tech support. I have RMA'd a few PS's with them.

LordPhoenix, I just wanted to make sure it was dead before I ship it off. If there are other tests an experienced person would know of then it would better help me make my decision. Otherwise, it's a waste of my money to send it to them only to realize it still works. If its something I could fix like a fuse, then I would just open it up myself.

Take a jumper wire and connect the green and black wire, with a working psu the fan inside will turn on. I believe there is only one green but several blacks so try them all.

You can get a PSU tester that will remove any doubt about the PSU being good or not. Antec even makes one. I picked up one from a local [in]compusa several months back that has a bank of LED's on it. You connect the ATX plug into the tester, then plug in the PSU and turn it on (if it has a switch). If they all show green, your good. If not, get it replaced (the PSU) since it's not 100% and should not be used.

BTW, failing PSU's can cause damage to other components.

things only worth 14 dollars now heh. last time it was that price at frys was a few weeks ago. bah. i had one of those too.
