Antec PLUS660 Side Blowhole?

Does the beige version of this case have the side blowhole?

The pictures at Newegg and Antec seem to indicate "No". However, the specs at Antec's site indicate that a side panel cooling fan is "optional". That would seem to imply that there's a hole already there and you would just pop in a fan...

I received a beige 660 from newegg yesterday. The side panel didn't have a blowhole. The pictures of the black 660 at newegg show the side blowhole. I don't know if other versions will be made available (i.e. beige w/blowhole and black w/o blowhole).

We're correcting the specs on our site. Plus660 does not have the side blow hole. In a couple of weeks we will have available seperate vented side panels that can be ordered if you want to do so.

Antec CSR - The 1080 does though right? I have one on the way partially because of this.

Does the Plus 660b have the side blow-hole or are the photo's misleading. Could the side blow-hole be the reason that the Plus 660b is about $12.00 more than the Plus 660?

What is the expected cost of the blow-hole side panel?

I think only the 1080's have the side blow hole.

AntecCSR - something else that would be nice is a front bezel for the 1080's w/o the door. The little clip on the top of the door is too fragile and break very easily. I just got my 1080 but would change out the front bezel if it was avail w/o the door.

Another vote here for the 1080 without the door. It's not very convenient when you have to swap cds frequently...

Plus 660b's do have the side blow hole.

I'll mention the alternate bezel to the bosses.

Grrrr... I'd like a 660b with no blowhole. It seems a bit gimmicky when there is such a purposeful, well-defined front-to-back airflow pattern in the case already. If I had no option but a side blowhole, it would give me serious second thoughts because I don't like the appearance either, even if I block it off inside. With a chromed grille it would not have been quite as bad, but I suppose Antec needs to pass EMI testing or something.

Another reason for 10xx cases without doors over the 5.25" bays: CD-recording software often auto-ejects the CD tray when the recording is done. Crunch!

BTW, my local Spokane, Washington CompUSA is selling the EasyUSB's with the incorrectly-made cables, if you're looking to head that problem off at the pass at all.

Yep, take that danged door off and shorten the depth while you are at it. ;)

I ordered one of the True power 330 watt units from Newegg. Hope it's all it's said to be and QUIET!

Just a little update here on the Antec True 330 watt psu that arrived today. I've got it my system now, replaced an Enermax 365 sumpin or udder. Bye bye Enermax forever unless they come up with something to top this Antec - but that is very doubtful. My system temps went down, noise level went down by a VERY considerable amount. I have all my case fans hooked to the "Fan Only" leads coming off the psu. In my right ear I hear a very slight humming noise that varies just slightly up and down in intensity. The case sits to my right. If I turn my head so that my left ear is toward the case, no variation in the hum - just a low steady sound. Think I need to get my right ear replaced - how about some help on that one AntecCSR. ;)
Indicated voltages are much closer to what they should be, the Enermax always seemed to maintain volts on the very high edge of a 10% allowance - the Antec puts the voltages right where they should be IMHO.

Great power supply!!

update to my update: I just laid my hand on top the case and the hum went completely away. Took my hand off and laid a cordless phone on the case, even that killed the hum. Have to do just a bit of case tweaking later, but the cordless can sit there for now.

I have a question about the side blowhole on the Perf Plus cases. I've heard that it's supposed to be for cooling the video card and that it comes by default blowing in. But if it's blowing in, shouldn't they provide a filter for this fan like the filter in front? I heard that there's no filter provided for the side fan. Trying to decide between the 660 and 660b. Thanks.

We had a 1080B come in at work. There's no filter, but you could add one. Actually, that's something the market could use... a filter unit that sits between an 80mm fan and a case, with a slide-out filter element. That way the user wouldn't have to unscrew the fan to get the filter out. AntecCSR, that would be a nifty aftermarket item for your lineup... you already sell grilles, might as well make some filters. :)
