Along with the new Truepower and Smartpower revisions, both of which feature 120mm fans, Antec is going to release a 500w Phantom.

Probably be incredibly expensive, but promises to be totally bad-ass and probably the most efficient PSU on the market (circa 90% my guess...) You can find some pics of it from CES... I emailed them and asked when it was going to be released but they responded with a very warm "We don't know."

Anyone have any additional info?

I don't see the point of these passive PSU's.... They may not have any fans but they rely the rest of your system for cooling. Your system will therefore need better cooling then what it would if it had PSU cooled via it's own fan, hence more noise from case cooling.

The 350 watt Phantom is already really efficient yet even it overheats when you put it under a moderate load. It's basically good for no more then 150 watts unless you dedicate cooling to it making it pointless, 500 watts would be even more of a problem.

*Edit*

Looks like it comes with a fan that only runs when needed..... Not a bad idea, check it out here.

WOw interesting case... never seen it before... probably not so good for silence, but great for cooling.

SPCR did an article on the Phantom 350w ... said it was great. I trust Antec to produce PSU's that do what they're advertised to do. Antec PSU's, as SPCR points our, are brilliantly engineered.

A little air flow to the Phantom 500w as well would be good, but that just gives me the opprotunity to do a cool ducting mod to my lian-li V-1100b.

Just to clarify. SmartPower 2's will use 2x 80mm fans, not 120mm.

We try to avoid giving dates because too many things can go wrong that can make it late (anything from a dock workers strike, stormy seas etc etc).

Man, I bet the Phantoms are going to pretty expensive but they look darn nice. Now I have to up my budget (again) for my new computer. At this rate I might be able to afford it by Christmas this year...
