I am buying a new case that will hold an athlon XP for the moment and an opteron in about a year, I am looking at the antec performance plus 1080, or the Chieftec dragon AX-01SLD, with the same power supply, including the 2 additional fans the chieftec will be slightly more expensive, but it is aluminum, though the power supply is out of stock at newegg so I may not have an option. The question is; is paying a little extra for the chieftec (which is aluminum) worth it or should I stick with the antec? I don?t really need something that big but considering the plus 880 is only about 10$ cheaper and wont be as good for airflow I think it makes sense to go with the 1080 if I get an antec. Thanks

I just ordered an Antec 1080B in Charcoal black that comes with the Antec True 430 watt power supply. It should have it monday-tusday.I read the reviews on this case before I ordered it and it got high marks. They were getting lower temperatures and the case performed very well. The Chieftec sounds like an excellent case aswell with the same design as the Antec but in Aluminum.I don't think you can go wrong with either one.The Antec comes with the Antec True 430 watt PS with dual fans,2 rear case fans, side door fan, front USB and Firewire inputs and some other cool features like front drive rails. The front case fan is optional on the 1080B so you might want to order 1 or 2.I ordred 1 for the front for intake as it should be enough.Does the Chieftec come with an Antec True 430 watt PS?.I don't think its an Antec PS but same wattage. You can't beat an Antec or Enermax PS,they are the best.Either case you can t go wrong with. Here is a review of the 180B. I can get the cheiftec with some no-name 420watt, but I was going to order it without a powersupply and order the antec 430 from newegg (same as in the 1080), thanks for the info.

I'd recommend shooting for the 430W Antec TruePower p/s (plus, this thing has dual-fans). The reason is this p/s is dead silent... Unlike the generic p/s out there.

If I had the chance, I'd go with the Chieftec (w/ 430w truepower), mainly because it IS aluminum and it's hella lighter.

The Antec case weighs something like 31-34 ponds..LOL.Get the Chieftec if you like and you can get an Enermax PS with that.It doesn't have to be an Antec. They both have dual fans also.

Problem with the cheiftec, is I am loosing the front usb/firewire, and if I add the fans (Antec comes with 3) cheiftec with 1, and power supply, it is going to cost about 40 to 50 more, especially since I cant get the antec and the equivalent enermax power supply is 10$ more, is the cheiftec worth that much more, considering I wont be moving it that much?

The Antec is such a good case that you won't see hardly any improvement in cooling compared to the Chieftec AX-01SLD.A review I read said the case temperature dropped off a good amount compared to other cases with the 1080.The design of the case is Antec and other companys like Chieftec buy the rights to use Antec's design.Save some money and get the Antec.I am almost certain you will be real happy with it.Others that have purchased it have no complaints and love it.Just buy the optional front case fan 1 or 2 but 1 should be sufficient.I have read nothing but good things on this case so its your decision to make.Since you are looking to save money I would just go with the 1080.I wanted to buy originaly the Aluminum Lian LI case but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a case right now without a power supply since I didn't have the money to burn.Aluminum case's are better, but the 1080 is such a good case that they are very comparable.

I second that... You can't go wrong with the 1080. It's an awesome case that will serve you many years to come.

Cool jkresh,I know you will be happy with the case. You will need 1 or 2 front intake fans depending on how many you want to go with.I think one is fine but some people like going with 2 there. The 2 back fans that are included will be your outtake fans. The one on the door included will blow towards your mobo around the chipset in that area. The front fans are not included as I said so get 1 or 2 on your preference. The fans in the 1080 just snap in the plastic bracket in the front and back so get the optional fan for that case or unless you have one laying around.Use the fan only connectors for 3 fans and then the other 1 or 2 hook them up to to the regular molex connectors.A guy from antec CSR replied to a thread on the fan connectors, check it out here. The True Power series power supply has 2 "FAN ONLY" connectors that can control the fans' speeds according to the temperature the PS reads. It's like a temperature sensing fan in the PS, only now you can control up to 3 fans as per the manufacturer's suggestion.
You "STOLED" that case for $115 and free shipping..LOL
