They just cut the side and screwed a plexiglass window on, definately not worth the premium.

i think i'll get one, without the window tho. the heights a bit much but it doesn't look bad without the top vent.

I wonder if by cutting into the side panel like that and putting in the window, if the case will be louder now. I know that's one thing people love about the P180- the fact that it's sound insulated pretty well and thus runs pretty quiet. I'd be curious to see if that mod changes it much.

thats why i don't think i'll get the window Ben. it looks fine but i can't imagine that it wouldn't hurt the acoustics.

Indeed. It's nice to see the insides and all, but I think the acoustics and the sleek silver look are some of the great benefits of the case, and a window (especially for that price) would seem to comprimise that.

On the other hand, it might not make any difference... it would be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison to see. For those who just want to see the insides of thier cases though, the trade-off may be worth it to them.

A window of that size has to kill all of the great dampening. I think that if I added a window it might be a little more modest in size in exchange for a little less sound. Although I suppose if I wanted a window in the first place I would buy a different case. :)

I don't think noise insulation is that big of an issue. The mojority of the noise escapes from the vent openings in the front, top, rear. I don't think noises thru the window will even remotely match those escaped noises unless it is paper thin or unless it rattles. But the price should be around the same. This is way too expensive.

How much does the case go for without the window? Is it the same exact thing as this one, just minus the window?
Tas.

Do cases tend to drop in price after awhile like other PC parts? :)

MSRP is $160... I got mine for $127 shipped @ Techonweb.com back before the case was in demand and out of stock everywhere.

Cases usually don't drop too much in price like other PC components do. You will see occasional price drops, but nothing too major.
