antec P180 or lian li v1100

I am putting together a new system with the asus A8N32-SLI motherboard. I am looking for a quiet case and have been looking at both the P180 and v1100. take money out of the equation.. i like the v1100 much more (aesthetically) but am worried about the inverted motherboard design on the v1100 causing problems with the heatpipe on the A8N32. Does anyone know what the deal is, or if there is a problem are there any easy mods? i can't seem to find a consensus on the issue. Should I just go with the antec P180?
thanks

or i could go with a different board like the DFI lanparty. but i would really like to use the asus A8N32-SLI with the lian li v1100. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I've done some research for a future build and from what I understand inverted cases do cause problems for boards with heatpipe based heatsinks, although I haven't seen any numbers myself first hand.

Since your building a quiet machine I'm assuming you won't be using SLI. I would consider a different some different boards. ATi has some a pretty nice chipset out that runs passive in most configurations, a huge benefit over the nForce4. I?m considering the MSI RD480 Neo2 for a future build, it looks very solid.

As far as the cases go the Lian Li gets my vote over the Antec; it's 100% construction of high quality AL puts it in a completely different class.

You're in a pickle. You should probably decide what's more important to you, the case or the board and go from there.

As an owner of the A8N32 mounted in a P180 (my only qualification to judge), I wouldn't recomend putting one in the LL.

The A8N32 puts out a lot of heat and if you are planning on using a gpu like the X1900XT you're case will get pretty toasty. That's if you have the board mounted normally.

The new ATI RD580 chipset boards shoud be out soon. If you're not in a hurry to build, you might want to wait for some reviews.

Unless building a silent rig is you're first priorty, I would take the case over the board.

Now I may not totally understand how ATIs Crossfire videocards work.. but if my understanding is correct, what would be the purpose of buying an A8N32 if he intended to use an X1900XT?

my 0.2

Not familure with the asus board. I have just moved to a DFI expert in my P-180. They layout is a dream. The RAM and CPU is perfectly situated at right angles to the blowhole out the top and the exaisting rear fan. My opty 165 is stable over 2.8GHz with an SI-120 blowing down. The air blows over the RAM and is sucked out the top on one side and into the cross and out the back on the other. At even 1.6vCore and 3.2vDImm both higher than I need my RAM never gets more than luke warm at load and load CPU never reaches 40c.

This is with modest 120 mm fans all around. Definately not silent, but very reasonable noise levels. The noise is from the amount of air moving rather than the fans themselves. The biggest drawback may be the active chipset cooler on the DFI board, which can be replaced of course.

Closest to perfection on any set up I have encountered, I have been extremely surprised at the difference coming from a DFI ut-ultra D. I didn't expect such a huge difference.

All my Lian-Li's have ASUS mobos. My newest Asus build will go into another PC-60. Found fantastic deals on eBay for all components, and I'm patiently waiting for deal on a X2 4800+; the Athlon's averaging about $500. Maybe I'll get lucky and get one under $500........
