Hi - anyone here know of any installation guides for the Antect P180 - the manual just sucks.

Its says if you want to install hard drives in the lower chamber, I checked the lower chamber where the box of screws was, how do install a hard drive there?

secondly how do you install the dvd drives, I see the clips in the bag, does the drive slide in from outside or inside?

any help would be appreciated.

I've installed the PS, that was a pain, and placed the motherboard, havent screwed it in yet, seeing if someone has any guide i can use to save myself any rework

Thanks

Remove the drive cage from the front of the bottom chamber, from there it's self-explanatory. For your optical drives, they (logically) slide in from the outside.

You really shouldn't being building a PC if you are having the problems you state above. It really isn't that hard to figure out. I'd suggest that you find someone local that can help you out.

there are two drive cages - the bottom where the box of screws was -- how do you put the hard drive in, the above drive has slots to put the hard drives.

second for the optical drives - do i need to attach the clips when putting them in.

Yeah, you definitely need to not be building this box on your own if you are having these questions. Try finding someone that can lead you through this build and then try the next one on your own.

Of course you need the rails for the opticals; that's why they're included.
The drives in the lower cage screw directly to the silicone grommets.

hdd is installed vertically instead of horizontally in the lower cage.
install the rails on both side of optical drive then slide it into the cage from outside until it clicks into place.
It's quite a friendly case to work with imo, unless you have to move it (very heavy).

Well I got everything installed - all seems to be working fine, only question i have is about the optical drive slots, the black bars that cover the spaces, i cant seem to fit one back in -- I installed two dvd drives, but I had to take the 3rd black filler bar as well, now im trying to put the bar back in but it doesnt fit -- note ive removed the metal bars on the three slots.

It should tell you in the mobo manual. They are the same pins. read the whole manual.

Hahaha awesome. My little brother was frowning as well with the lower HD cage, I looked at it instead, and told him how to do it. He couldn't figure it out on his own and still didn't believe me :p The DVD drives 'snap' into place btw. Apply some force, you hear a tack, and they won't budge at all. As for HD audio, well, if there isn't a slot for the cable to go into, then it doesn't have HD audio, if it does have a slot to plug the cable into, then it does ;)

The online manual for the Abit IP35-E gives the pinout for audio on pg 1-15 in detail. The Abit IP35-E Pro may be different so read carefully. It seems to imply that HD audio is default and warns about miswiring if you use AC97.

1.8.6 Front Panel Audio Connection Header
This header provides the front panel connection for HD (High Definition)
Audio, yet for AC?97 Audio CODEC connection, you must carefully check the
pin assignment before connecting from the front panel module. An incorrect
connection may cause malfunction or even damage the motherboard.
? Please do not connect the ?Ground? cable or ?USB VCC? cable
from the front
