  1. Overview of the problem
System will not post to Bios

  2. Full description of the problem and symptoms
Just had a huge lightning storm and I am rebuilding my system with all new components expect drives and case. Mobo and CPU and PSU have been independently tested and will post. After mounting the board and PSU Power switch on the old case the system shuts down after a half second of operation.

  3. Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
Since some close lightning strikes problem re-occurs

  4. Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
Problem repeats despite new ram or not plugging in any drives.

  5. I already tried these steps:
Mobo and CPU and PSU have all been tested and work fine. Different outlets and power strips all tested.

  6. My software:

    • Not relevant

    • My hardware
      • ASUS P5NE SLI
      • Intel Dual Core 3.0ghz
      • BFG Geforce 8500 GT
      • Crucial pc6400 2gb 800mhz CT25664AA800
      • Antec EA-650
      • Antec P180 Case

1. did you test the drives to verify they are at 100% efficiency?
2. did you replace the Surge Protector or UPS (whichever you had) with something better?
3. did you test your electrical outlet to make sure it was at 100%?

the switches and circuitry in the case may be shot, but need to make sure everything else was done by the book.

how did you test the drives, what software did you use?
were you using a Surge protector or UPS before the power spike? what are you using now?
how did you test the electrical outlet?

2 video cards a new stick of ram and a new Powersupply (the 12v was not working) = system is up and running. Thanks for the help!
