Antec P180 and orientation of powersupply

Hey Guys,

I just bought an Antec P180 for my new build and was wondering if I should insert the power supply so the fan points down or up? Also can anyone post pics of your build if you have this case so I can see how to make it look nice? This is my first build in over 5 years 🙂.

Thanks

search the forum there are countless posts of pictures with p180s, and im not sure if it actually makes a difference if it should be up or down. But anyways welcome back to the world of DIY computing

I dont think it really matters, since you have the fan in the middle, which will push the heat out wither way you put the PSU. But id say put it where you can get the most length out of the cpu power cable.

I have been looking at a lot of pics with the P180 users flipping their fan so it's pointing up, I installed mine pointing down... is there a temp difference worth the effort of flipping the fan?

Thanks!

Mine's pointed down, no issues at all. The chambers are separated so having the fan point up is well, pointless. Just install the PSU normally and you'll be fine.

If you're PS comes with a 120mm fan; have the 120mm face up. It has little more room than having it face down. If you're PS has one 80mm fan like the Antec 550 NeoHE; it really doesn't matter.

I have all my fans pointing down - sucking air from 2 cm at the top of the case does absolutely nothing for airflow, and will impede flow through the PSU as well. I think there should be nothing in the PSU itself that would object to being upside down, although with some PSUs the main switch then seems upside down.

The only place I've found anyone take a side on this is Directron, and they seem to advise mounting with the blower or vent downward toward the rest of the case.
