Antec P160 Temperature display always shows 188...

I picked up an Antec P160 case last weekend, and I love it. It's by far one of the best cases I've ever owned. I've also managed to squeeze a nice water cooling solution into it... but that's another story.

I hadn't really given it much thought until tonight, but the temperature readout on the case is constantly showing 188, which is actually just all segments of the display lit, I'm sure the actual value of 188 has nothing to do with it.

I've done a bit of searching, and it seems that this could possibly be an indication of a defective part in the case. Antec seems to suggest that it could also just be a bad thermal probe. The reason I didn't give it any thought until tonight is because I left the thermal probes in the packaging them came in, inside the case, until earlier this evening. I was hoping that removing them from the packaging (both probes are bundled together in a little plastic sleeve) would get them working.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might get this working? It's not a big deal, and I'd rather not return the case, even if I can't get it to work, but having 188 showing on my case is a little annoying, even without the constant questions about the meaning from visitors.

I'll take it from the lack of responses that nobody has seen this problem?

(Just a final bump incase there's hope. :) )

Mine has done it a couple of times or go blank. What has worked for me is to rotate the cylinder that has the ports/temp readout and putting it back into the original position. That usually is enough to reset the display.

Hmmm... I've tried that, but only with the power off. I also tried remove that assembly completely from the case so I could get at the insides, but I think there was one screw hidden above the first optical drive on the inside that I could get at.

I'll try again with the power on and see if I can't get it to do something. Thanks for the suggestion. Atleast if it happens intermittantly to other people, I can hope that mine isn't completely broke. :)

There's two screws behind the I/O panel right above the top optical drive bay, and two more screws on the lower front edges of the I/O panel, kind of hidden up behind each end. You have to pivot the I/O panel up as far as it will go to gain easy acess to the two front screws.

Ya, I got the front two out no problem, it's the ones on the inside I couldn't get to. Only because I wasn't willing to go through that much effort at the time.

Since nothing else seems to have fixed the problem, I'll probably pull it apart at some point and see if I can't fix it. I'm hoping it's a loose connection or something simple. I'm not going to bother taking everything apart and returning the case for a feature I don't really care about. Temperature display is nice, but I don't pay that much attention to it, and trying to stick those probes somewhere secure where they will provide reliable information is a pain.

I have the same case (sorta P-160WF) I too am having probs with the temp display but mines a little different. Mine is stuck on Celsius. Even when I push the switch inside to switch to F, it doesn't work. Is there a way to work around this? I prefer seeing the temp in F rather than C
