Antec P160: How do I connect the temperature display?

My mobo is an a7n8x deluxe. I've figured out the other connections but am lost on the temperature. Anyone know where to plug what in where?

You don't plug them into anything. Those are temp sensors at the end of each of those wires. You put the temp sensor where you want to measure some temps. I've heard of people putting them up against heatsink fins, memory heatspreaders, taping them to the HDD etc. I suspended one of mine about 1.5" above the HSF to measure case temp and I threaded the other one out the rear of the case and placed it in front of the PSU exhaust exit so I could keep track of my PSU temp.

The entire front panel display needs to be plugged into a standard 4-pin Molex connector and there's also an inline switch for the temp sensors to switch the display between celcius and fahrenheit.

Wouldn't you place it between the motherboard and the cpu core? Never done it, but thought that was where it went? 😕

Well I wouldn't do that, I mean, that would make the connection between the core and the heatsink crap; I would have a hotter chip due to less thermal conductivity.

jimraynor is right. only connect a temp probe to the cpu if the heatsink/waterblock you install has a notch specifically for it. otherwise it will not allow for maximum cooling. i'm presently deciding where to put my probes for my p160.

I understand how the words "motherboard" and "heatsink" are easy to confuse, but the fact is, you can easily thread a thermal probe wire between the pins of a CPU, and drop it into the socket.

Of course you would be a fool to place the thermal probe in the thermal paste between your IHS and the heatsink.
