Ok, I'm slowly putting together a dual-opteron system and the time has come to purchase the power supply. Now, I've heard good things about both companies' PSU's, but the prices are very similar and I would like to know if there is one you guys would pick over the other. The choices I'm looking at are:

Antec 550W "TRUE550 EPS12V"

or

Fortron 550W EPS12V PSU

TIA for your input.

Both are excellent. However in my limited experience with both companies the Fortrons have more steady voltage on the +12v rail. The Antec was within safe limits but it ran at about 11.85-11.90 where as the Fortron can consistenly hold just about 12v.

Another vote for Fortron. Mostly for price. Both are good and you won't go wrong.

Both are good, but I'd err on the side of Fortron. They've served big OEMs (and almost are one themselves) longer than Antec, which...hasn't.

I have used both and never had a problem with Antec. I've seen one Fortron's rear fan crack completely during operation.

I would like to know why everybody is recommending fortron !
I bought one myself and I'm quite happy with it but the numbers didn't make sense to me . fsp550-60pln has +3.3V 27A ,+5V@29A,+12V@18A.total wattage would be 450 watts
the antec 550 has 3.3V@32A;+5V@40A:+12V@36A total wattage would be 741 ! ! that 36a on the 12v doesn't make sense to me .

Reviews tryng t force he PSUs to shut ff or burn up) have shown that the Fortrns tend to be rated conservatively, by as much as 30%. The Antecs show up as being rated acurately. Also, there are many more Fortrons in servers and workstations tan Antecs.
