Hi,

I know similar questions were asked many times before. But can one of you please help me too?

I have the following configuration (5 years old):
1 x AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma Dual-Core 2.7GHz Socket AM2+ 95W black edition Processor
1 x ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics adapter)
2 x DDR2 PC2-6400 (400MHz) Kingston 1GB RAM
1 x Western Digital 1TB hard disk
1 x DVD writer
Default CPU heatsink and fan
3 x 8mm case fans
1 x Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 460W

Last week, the system broke down and when checked, it was the power supply. I'm trying to replace it and currently unable to decide between these 2 (based on my needs and availability in India):
1. Antec VP450P 450W PSU
2. Corsair CX430 430 Watts PSU

Considering my configuration - especially, the motherboard, can you please suggest one? I'm especially worried about the "4-pin ATX +12V power pin" need in the motherboard. I can’t see the same in either of the PSUs. It was present in my old CoolerMaster PSU. (I have heard I can split on of the 8-pin plugs for this use; but wanted to confirm).

I know my config is old; but right now, I cannot afford to upgrade to the latest :(.

Thanks,
Benny

I'm personally an Antec Fanboi.

It's probably made by Seasonic, would have to look.

I don't know if there's a difference between the VP-450 sold in the USA and the VP-450P sold there, but that would be my pick. I've got a pair of Q9300 @ 3.0 Core2Quad rigs, been running VP-450 PSUs in them for a number of years, no issues.

Edit: My understanding is the VP-450 is made by FSP, so should be a solid choice.

Another VP-450 buyer. Both it and the VP-450P are made by Fortron/FSP for Antec. I'm using it in a PC I built for my nephew from spare parts and its been running a Phenom II X4 955 and a GTX 560 SE perfectly for almost a year.

Thank you very much friends. Can somebody please also suggest about the 4-pin +12V ATX need in the motherboard?

VP-450P is FSP. No 80 Plus. All CapXon capacitors. Only 24-pin is sleeved. 2 year warranty.

CX-430 is CWT. 80 Plus Bronze. SamXon with Japanese primary. All cables are sleeved. 3 year warranty.

Both have sleeve bearing fan.

Either PSU allows you to "split" the 8-pin in half so you have the 4-pin you need.

Thank you all of you. Special Thanks to jonnyGURU.
Your comments were very helpful. I learned a lot more about PSUs in the last few days.
I had kind of decided on Antec VP450; then I came across Seasonic SS400BT PSU and I am again confused between that and the Antec :hmm:

Maybe bump it up to 500W to 550W and you'll have future proof and what is considered mainstream units to choose from. Should cost no more than extra few bucks.
